Top Ten Tuesday #63

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish which features a variety of bookish top ten lists!

Top Ten Comics/Manga on my TBR shelf

Avatar the Last Airbender - I've read two of the AtLA manga trilogies but I want to read them ALL!  These are so faithful to the animated series, both in tone and in artwork, they are NOT to be missed!

Sailor Moon - I adored the animated series growing up but I really want to read the source material and learn more about my favorite Sailor Scouts and their quest to save the universe!

Batman: The Killing Joke - Batman is my favorite comic book hero but I'm woefully ignorant when it comes to his most classic stories and I will fix that soon.  I'm familiar with The Killing Joke but I still need to actually read it.

Fullmetal Alchemist - A classic manga series that has received lots and lots of praise from my blogger friends and the world at large. I've just got to discover what the fuss is all about!

Sarah's Scribbles - I adore Sarah's Scribbles so naturally, the full length story all about my favorite little introvert is a must-have for this girl :)

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns - Yet another classic Batman story that is a must-read.  I've heard lots of praise for this one and I can never get enough of the Dark Knight.

Nimona - This story has been universally loved by anyone who has read it so clearly I'm missing out and I can't stand it! I need Nimona in my life.

Wires and Nerve - After the end of The Lunar Chronicles we all were a bit lost I think. Enter a series of graphic novels featuring everyone's favorite android Iko! YES.

The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl - Here's another story that seems to have been loved by everyone who read it.  Clearly I need to jump on the bandwagon a.s.a.p.

Batman Year One - Yes: more Batman!  These aren't the only classic Batman stories on my tbr shelf but they're the top three I need to get to...before I read ALL the Batman stories :D

Have you read any of these? Share your thoughts below!
I'd love to get more comic/manga recs too if you've got them :)

  1. I've never read The Killing Joke either! And Squirrel Girl just sounds fun. And I have no idea what Wires and Nerve is about, but I don't know- it looks good? Great list!!!

  3. Batman is my favorite DC superhero and I don't think I've read a single comic featuring him. Nimona is great! I loved it. I only read the first issue of Squirrel Girl and couldn't really get into it. I need to pick up Wires and Nerves!

  4. I don't read graphic novels or comic books but I do adore comic book films, and have seen Marissa's novel around. Makes me think maybe I'd like to try it. :)

  5. Love all the Batman comics on this list. All the ones you chose are good ones too! Frank Miller, what a talent.

  6. I don't read too many comics or manga at the moment because I don't have time. The only one I'm up to date with is Attack on Titan. I want to start FMA again (I've read the first volume) and should probably try to get to the Avatar comics. As for what I was reading in the past but have fallen behind on include Sengoku Strays, Magi, the Adventures of Sinbad, Fairy Tail, and Skip Beat.

  7. Great list, Micheline! I loved Nimona so I definitely recommend checking it out. =) I also really need to read the Avatar graphic novels - I can't believe I haven't got round to those yet!

  8. AtLA - YASSSSSS!!! XD I hope they never stop publishing those graphic novels, LOL. The storytelling is as phenomenal as it was on the TV show, and the artwork is absolutely gorgeous. I picked up Smoke and Shadow recently, and I can't wait to dive into it!

  9. So I've read a fairly pathetic one of these ten (Nimona) but I have several on my own TBR list. I've actually never seen Sailor Moon, but I feel like it's something I would love so that's probably the top one on my list!

  10. I've been getting more into graphic novels these past few years, but even so I've only read one from your list (Nimona - Awesome). I should add some of these to my TBR and in turn I would highly recommend Y: The Last Man and Saga by Brian Vaughan!
