Top Ten Tuesday #50

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish which features a variety of bookish top ten lists!

In honor of Fall T.V. it's a T.V. themed topic:
Top Ten Favorite Television Shows Of All Time

Doctor Who

Doctor Who is my all-time favorite television show. Sure it's lost some of it's magic since Russel T. Davies stepped off as the show-runner but there's a magic to this world and it's characters that is truly timeless!

Despite my issues with Moffat as the current show-runner on Doctor Who, you can't deny that the man is clever and tells excellent stories. Sherlock is proof of that but then again, the actors here need to get lots of credit too.

When a show still has a dedicated fan-base after 11 seasons, it says a lot. Now I won't deny that the first 5 seasons were the strongest, but I don't think I'll ever get enough of the Winchesters and their quest to save people and hunt things.

The Originals

The Originals started off on Vampire Diaries but quickly became the focal point of the show, so it was only natural that they get their own show.  Rarely do spin-offs surpass the original series but this seems to be the exception. I gave up on VD but I could never give up The Originals.

The fact that Merlin went off the air far too soon hasn't dampened my love for the series. These characters stole my heart and I sincerely hope that BBC will come to it's senses and bring them back one day...

The Flash

As a DC girl, I was all for the addition of DCU shows on the CW. While the love-story in The Flash doesn't especially do it for me, the characters, plot and wicked action-scenes definitely deliver. This show's gotten better with every season.

When I started watched Arrow the show took hold of me and it was a whirlwind of suspense, drama and feels.  The show seems to have lost a bit of it's magic in recent seasons though so I'm hoping it'll turn things around this Fall.

Peaky Blinders

Peaky Blinders isn't for the faint of heart let me tell you but it's riveting. It follows a gangster family's rise to power in 1919 Birmingham. It's violent but it stole my heart - what can I say, I like to suffer. Oh and Tom Hardy guest stars regularly. #win

Orphan Black

Growing up there were literally no shows from Canada that I liked.  All of that changed with Orphan Black. This show is intelligent, addictive and mind-blowing. I can't wait to see what's in store for the upcoming season!

Breaking Bad

When I friend recommended this show, I was hesitant - it's not my usual taste but man did this series ever hook me. With every new season my feelings deepened and by the last one I was devastated but in the best possible way.

Any fans of these shows out there?
What are your favorite shows?

  1. I LOVE the Originals! I've been meaning to try Doctor Who for a while now because all of my friends love that show, but I haven't had a chance yet!

  2. My sister keeps telling me that I need to watch Breaking Bad. That might be my next TV Binge! Great Top Ten :D My Top Ten Tuesday!

  3. I love Peaky Blinders! I feel like I hardly ever find people that enjoy this show, but it's so great! I've been meaning to check out Orphan Black, and I completely forgot about Merlin. I watched the first episode a while back and enjoyed it, but then got busy and forgot about it. I'll have to go back to it. :)
    Great list!

  4. I wish I would have gotten in on Dr. Who at some point. So many people love that show and I've only seen a few episodes scattered here and there. And I didn't know The Originals was a spin off of Vampire Diaries! I've seen both shows at Netflix and thought about both- I like the supernatural stuff. Hmm...

I'm liking Flash a lot these days. When he guest starred on Arrow I like eh, but now I like it more than Arrow lol. And Arrow does seem to have lost something... I've heard mixed things about this last season which I didn't watch (will binge on streaming).

I totally agree about Orphan Black. that show is amazing, and Tatiana playing all those roles? Wow. I love that graphic too- that opening sequence is so cool.

  5. I haven't seen most of the shows on your list but I do have some on my list like Breaking Bad, Flash and Arrow. I'm interested in Peaky Blinders, that definitely sounds like a show I'd love.

  6. I'm not surprised that we like so many of the same shows! Also, I'm so happy to find another person who watches the Flash and Arrow. I'm so ready for those to start up again! Do you ever watch Gotham?

  7. I started watching The Flash after seeing an episode filmed right outside my son's balcony in Vancouver. My TTT.

  8. I'm behind on The Flash and Arrow and need to get caught up on both. Do you watch Supergirl too?

  9. I MUST find a way to finish watching Merlin! I started the first season ages ago but didn't follow through with watching the rest of the series. I'm telling you, I'm such an epic fail at binge watching TV, LOL!

  10. I really need to watch more TV...but between my to read list and my to watch list, my books always seem to win out. I have watched a couple on here, but still need to catch up or finish their runs, like Breaking Bad and Sherlock!

  11. Wow! The only one I've seen is Supernatural and I've just started season 8. I agree that the first five were very strong, but I still love spending time with the Winchesters. Some of my favorites are Quantico, Once Upon a Time (early seasons were better of that one too), Blacklist, Scorpion, Marvel Agents of Shield and older ones are Friends, Buffy, Charmed. So many more LOL.

  12. Dr. Who and Supernatural made mine, had I done top 15 Sherlock would have. Lol

  13. Sherlock and the flash?! OMG AWESOME SHOWS!
