Waiting on Wednesday #135

Waiting on Wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine in which we spotlight an upcoming book release we're especially looking forward to!

Here's my pick this week:

Furthermore by Tahereh Mafi
Expected Publication: August 30th 2016 by Dutton

There are only three things that matter to twelve-year-old Alice Alexis Queensmeadow: Mother, who wouldn’t miss her; magic and color, which seem to elude her; and Father, who always loved her. The day Father disappears from Ferenwood he takes nothing but a ruler with him. But it’s been almost three years since then, and Alice is determined to find him. She loves her father even more than she loves adventure, and she’s about to embark on one to find the other.

But bringing Father home is no small matter. In order to find him she’ll have to travel through the mythical, dangerous land of Furthermore, where down can be up, paper is alive, and left can be both right and very, very wrong. Her only companion is a boy named Oliver whose own magical ability is based in lies and deceit—and with a liar by her side in land where nothing is as it seems, it will take all of Alice's wits (and every limb she's got) to find Father and return home to Ferenwood in one piece. On her quest to find Father Alice must first find herself—and hold fast to the magic of love in the face of loss.
Even though I have yet to read Mafi's Shatter Me Trilogy, I was instantly captivated by this premise^^ along with it's colourful cover.  It sounds like a very imaginative MG/YA story, with magic, a mythical land and a perilous quest. Which is basically all things that are right up my alley!

Thoughts on Furthermore?
What are you waiting on this week?

  7. You know, I'm actually not too keen on reading this one! I liked Mafi's YA series but not really interested in her MG series. I hope you enjoy this book when you get the chance to read it!

  9. Another great MG find! I have to say, after reading Sanderson's Alcatraz novels, I'm finding myself more open to books in this age category. Love the sound of this, and pretty cover!

This blog is an award-free zone. I appreciate the thought but I can't invest the time needed.
