Top Ten 2016 Releases So Far This Year

Most of you know that I read a lot of backlisted books mixed in with my ARCs and new releases so I tweaked this week's topic a bit, to give me a chance to feature everything.

Top Ten Books I've Read So Far This Year

The Raven King - My most anticipated release of 2016 and so far my favorite of the bunch. I'm still hungover from this series ender and I don't think I'll ever fully recover.

A Court of Mist and Fury - Imagine following up your worst bookish hangover^^ with a second worst one. ACoMaF was above and beyond the first book in every.single.way. So when does book 3 come out?! O.O

Mistborn: Secret History - As a HUGE Mistborn fan, imagine my surprise when this little novella changed the game entirely and became my first 5-star read of 2016. Mind? Blown.

A Gathering of Shadows - If there's a Schwab book coming out, you can be sure it'll be one of the best of the year.  AGoS was spectacular and cruel.

The Bands of Mourning - Yup. Another Sanderson book makes the cut. Are you even surprised? No? Didn't think so. This one had lots of BIG reveals and twists! Eep.

The Scorpio Races - I waited far too long to read this gem by Stiefvater and though it will never replace The Raven Cycle in my heart, I loved this book all the same.

Illuminae - This book hooks you straight away and never.lets.go. Not until the very last page. The unique formating created a one of kind experience but the story speaks for itself.

Winter - We all knew the ending of The Lunar Chronicles would be intense but that didn't mean I was ready for it. Not even a little bit...

Fifth Grave Past the Light - Every time I go back to read on of Charley Davidson's adventures, I feel like I'm reuniting with a dear friend. Not to mention a sassy, snarky, hilarious and sexy friend ;)

The House of Hades - Apparently, the 4th books in a Riordan series are always the best for me. I think this one would have made a stronger series-ender than BoO - but that might be just me.

Have you read any of these^^?
What are your favorite reads so far in 2016?

  1. ACOMAF was amazing! I can't wait for book 3. Also, I have been meaning to read The Scorpio Races for a while, but I'm scared I'm not gonna like it. I don't know why, because the premise sounds fascinating and I have heard great things about the book.

    Anyway, great choices!

  6. *SHRIEKS BECAUSE THE RAVEN KING* Basically Maggie Stiefvater is THE author of ever for me...and VE Schwab is actually very close behind. XD And yes AGOS was cruel but omg I loved it. I'm such a beggar for punishment because I cannot WAIT for A Conjuring of Light and yet I'm 99% sure she's going to kill everything we love. *howls*

I ALSO LOVE THE SCORPIO RACES SO SO SO MUCH. (Surprise! XD) I re-read it this year...since the first time I Read it was like 2013, and I think I loved it even more the second time round omg.

  8. Sanderson fans represent! I still need to get my hands on that Mistborn Secret History book. A novella that gets a 5 star? That's AMAZING! Only one novella has ever done that for me and I guess it's no surprise it's also a Sanderson book, The Emperor's Soul :)

By the way, I hope you're enjoying Alcatraz vs. The Evil Librarians!

  9. THE SCORPIO RACES! One of my all-time favorites Micheline! So glad you loved it too:) I still need to read A Court of Mist and Fury, I'm working my way up to it because I'm disappointed in Tamsin. I was on his team in book one, but I know Rhys will win me over:)

  14. So many of these I haven't made it to yet! They are on my list though! The Raven King will be next. Zane is about to be gone a month in the summer to spend time with his dad and I've been spending all my free time with him before he goes so I've got a lot of reading to catch up on LOL

  15. I'm sad to say that the only one of these I've read is Illuminae (which I adored). These types of top ten posts stress me out because I realize how many amazing books are in the world that I still haven't read!!
