Harry Potter Moment #148

Harry Potter Moment of the Week

Harry Potter Moment of the Week is a  meme hosted by Leah @ Uncorked Thoughts  and Me @ Lunar Rainbows Reviews. The idea is to share a favorite moment, magical item, character, spell, quote, object from the books, films or J.K.Rowling herself!  How to join up &  upcoming topics here.

Hi everyone and happy almost Friday!  I hope you've all been paying attention to Professor Binns in our History of Magic classes because this is right up his alley (Do ghosts have alleys? Like, I know they can haunt alleys but do they still fanghost over stuff? Yup, fanghosting is a thing. Bah! Nevermind...):

Favorite historical moment in the Wizarding World?
(that happened before the books)

There are lots of different ways to interpret ''Historical Event'' Basically, it could be anything that happened in the past and was awesome. Like Dumbledore going to Hogwarts. The day McGonagall was born (BAM!) Voldemort going to Hogwarts. The Marauders making THAT Map, and becoming Animagi.  If we're doing straight up momentous historical even though, let's go with the obvious:

The Founding of Hogwarts

I mean that's gotta be the most epic thing to happen in the Wizarding World in the UK. The day Hogwarts opened it's doors and started training young witches and wizards in magic.  I'm not gonna lie, I will forever be waiting for my letter to arrive. Even though it's like 25 years late. No big deal.

In the context of our new film trilogy, one could argue that the adventures Newt Scamander will have that lead him to write his famous book could be defining historical events, but we'll have to wait for the films to come out before we can say for sure ;)

  1. Gotta agree with you on this one. The founding of Hogwarts is where it all started! It would make a fantastic story in and of itself!

    1. Oh it REALLY would Nicole^^ A story about Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Slytherin would be EPIC. We need that AND a Marauders series XD

    2. Well, someone has to do a Reeta Skeeter and question J.K. Rowling on that and then write a 900-page book about the Founders)))

    3. LOL! I feel like we should just petition JKR to write the damn thing (and to hell with Rita Skeeter LOL!)

    4. Ah! If only that would work)))

  2. Kinda makes you wonder if there was a school before Hogwarts in the UK or if the witches/wizards there didn't attend or went abroad. This is an excellent moment. I know I fell in love with the school and couldn't imagine going to a different one. All this information coming out about the different schools though is quite interesting. I'm so looking forward to the new movie!

    1. I think that based on the new information JKR released about the US schools, there probably wasn't anything before Hogwarts...but who knows? I agree: Hogwarts is THE BEST. Like you though, I'm really excited about Fantastic Beasts :D

  3. I sometimes think that being a Hogwarts professor would be the next best thing to being a student there. I mean if we can't have that letter... :)

  4. Fanghosting- lolol! That is totally a thing! XD Hogwarts is so much more than a school; it's . . . life! It's mind-blowing to think what it would be like to be a student there; I'd actually WANT to do homework and study all the time!

  5. I love your Harry Potter posts! Especially now, because I'm listening to the series again on audiobook and it's extra nostalgia. If we have to go with REAL historical, I might have to pick the very first game of Quidditch at Queerditch Marsh. Where would we be without the snidgets?

    1. Thanks girl! I'm planning a reread in July myself so it'll be even more exciting for me - my first in YEARS. I thought about Quidditch too but eventually my beloved Hogwarts won out :D

  6. All of this... I love all of these answers. The founding of Hogwarts is a particularly great event. I'd love to know so much more about it, even down to the boring architecture design and each founder's thoughts and opinions and secrets. I want to know how Slytherin got that secret chamber in the school without anyone else realizing it. I want to know their reasons behind common room placements. Basically, I just want to know everything about Hogwarts. Great post :D

    1. Thanks girl^^ Me too - I want a story about the four founders. How they met, who they were back before Hogwarts and how they eventually teamed up (despite their differences)and founded the school!! :D
