Harry Potter Moment #143

Harry Potter Moment of the Week

Harry Potter Moment of the Week is a  meme hosted by Leah @ Uncorked Thoughts  and Me @ Lunar Rainbows Reviews. The idea is to share a favorite moment, magical item, character, spell, quote, object from the books, films or J.K.Rowling herself!  How to join up &  upcoming topics here.

Happy Thursday my friends! Thursday is a good day, first because it means Friday's just around the corner and second, because it's HARRY POTTER DAY!

Free Week!

When I'm coming up with topics, a free week always sounds like a good idea, but when I get to coming up with a post on a free week? I want to kick myself. I never know what to talk about that hasn't been discussed before...I used to go back and check out topics from before I joined up with this meme... but I'm pretty sure I've done them all now. So, this week, we're going to chat:

Fantastic Beasts And Where to Find Them

As any hardcore Potterhead, once I had read through the series and subsequently reread the entire series multiple times, I quickly nabbed all the little extra books from the Wizarding World penned by JK Rowling, which included Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. I know I'm not the only one who thought that the book had lots more potential than what we got at first so when they announced a film trilogy based on the book, it was like a dream come true. You mean we get to spend more time in the Wizarding world?!

Getting to explore new territory, a new setting, new characters and plot set in the Wizarding World, written by JK herself is like the next best thing to getting more actual Harry Potter books - or a Marauders prequel!

Tell me you didn't get chills at least one time during this^^

The cast is stellar, the plot seems promising and magical, and as much as nothing will ever beat a London setting, I'm excited to explore America in the 1920's and see what trouble Newt gets up to. If Dumbledore vouched for him, then I'm sold!

There's also a book version of the Screenplay coming out but I'm going to wait and see the film before I decide if that one warrants a pre-order too. Odds are it'll become part of my collection as well!

Share your thoughts on the Fantastic Beast Movie Trilogy!

  1. I'm really looking forward to watching the movie and exploring the world I love so much from a totally different avenue. I think it has a potential to be another great story. I love fantastic beasts and I never expected that I would get to see a movie centered around them. I have always had a soft spot for nifflers in particular and I know that there will be at least one of them and a significant one, I think! I know that I'll be buying the screenplay as soon as I can get my hands on it. I'd love to learn more about J.K. Rowling's process as a screenwriter. I'm a total geek like that.

    1. I really am too Farida! The new perspective/setting/characters should be really interesting :) It will never replace the original story of course but I agree^^ it has a lot of potential for greatness! Nifflers are great, I can't wait to see them in action - and all the other fantastic beasts of course :D I think the screenplay will be great too - ANYTHING that has JKR's seal of approval works for me!

  2. LMAO at your "Like we ever left" comment! It's so true! There are times when I truly do feel like I only just finished reading DH.

I will watch any Potterverse-related movie, so I can't wait to see Fantastic Beasts! The film just looks GORGEOUS, and if JKR penned the screenplay, I'm sold! :D

    1. LOL! Well it's especially true for us: we NEVER left! And we will NEVER leave ♥

Same here, especially if it has JKR's seal of approval :D The film looks and sounds amazing! Eeeep, more reasons to fangirl XD

  3. I'm looking forward to this so much! I am very surprised that this is where we are going in the Potterverse :D When I read Fantastic Beasts, I never would've imagined they would turn that itty bitty book into a 3 part film series. I'm so excited to see what new things are in store for us as well as the old goodies!!

    1. Me too Jaclyn! I am too but honestly I didn't think we'd get any other HP films so anything would have surprised me LOL! And I agree on such a tiny book spawning 3 films but hey: JKR is penning them and I trust her :D

  4. So, I haven't read Fantastic Beasts - I know, I'm the only person who hasn't jumped on the boat! I have to read it before the movie comes out (LOVE the previews!). So, is the book an actual story? For some reason, I was under the impression that it was just a collection of facts about the beasts or something. I don't know - I guess I need to check it out!

    1. Yup you were right Nicole, the book really reads like an actual HP textbook on magical beasts. But then JKR penned a script based on the character who 'wrote' the texbook...and how he went about discovering the beasts!
