Harry Potter Moment #129

Harry Potter Moment of the Week

Harry Potter Moment of the Week is a  meme hosted by Leah @ Uncorked Thoughts  and Me @ Lunar Rainbows Reviews. The idea is to share a favorite moment, magical item, character, spell, quote, object from the books, films or J.K.Rowling herself!  How to join up &  upcoming topics here.

Hi all! It's Thursday and you know what that means: it's time for some Harry Potter reminiscing! This week, we're talking about a very special character:

Favorite Hagrid Moment

Hagrid has had lots of memorable moments within the Harry Potter series: Delivering Harry to Number 4 Privet on Sirius' Flying Motorcycle, his pink Umbrella/Wand, giving Dudley that tail, gifting Harry with his very first birthday gift: Hedwig ♥, welcoming and escorting all the First Years to Hogwarts, all the gifts and rock biscuits he gave to Harry throughout the years. His endearing and often baffling love for all magical creatures...the list goes on and on up to carrying Harry in his arms at the end of DH *sniff*  but I think I have to go with THE BIG defining moment in the series:

Hagrid delivered THE LINE that forever changed Harry Potter's life - and set the entire series in motion.  It makes me sad that Hagrid is underappreciated a lot of the time...I mean, he's a HUGE (pun intended) influence on Harry's life and an often overlooked father-figure to our hero.  Hagrid loved Harry from the moment he carried him to Number 4 Privet that faithful night so it only makes sense that he was the one saying the words that altered Harry existence so completely up to that point.

  1. I love this Hagrid moment too! I think my favorite Hagrid moment though comes in the last book. I love when he and Harry leave Pivet Drive on the flying motorcycle. I know that leads to some intense/sad moments. But, I just love how Harry entered his house that way and then leaves his house for the last time, the same way. Also, this time, we all know the significance of that motorcycle. Hagrid gets all these wonderful sentimental moments. He's one of my favorite characters.

    1. I love that moment too Nori - it really comes full circle as you said and the fact that we know the story behind the motorcycle makes it all the more poignant! Hagrid is such a fantastic character though...all of his moments are great ♥

  2. Yes! I feel the same way. I love how she came around full circle too where Hagrid brought Harry to Privet Drive then carried him through the forest at the end. I also love that THE line was delivered with Hagrid's accent LOL. You're right though, he has so many epic moments in the books and he only ever wanted what was best for Harry. I love how emotional he got, as such a huge guy he would've been much more scary if not for that.

    1. Yup^^ it's poetic in it's way and such a big deal seeing as Hagrid cares for Harry so deeply :*) It's truly impossible not to hear Hagrid's accent when you read that line LOL! His soft heart perfectly balances his fierce tempter haha!

  3. This was one of my favorite moments as well! :) He said it like it was the most obvious thing in the world and you could just tell he was mad that Harry didn't know any of this! Hagrid was and always will be one of my favorite characters!

    1. YES^^ It's clear that to him it was the most obvious fact in the world - he couldn't believe that all of Harry's history had been kept from the poor boy! Hagrid is brilliant :) Thanks for stopping by Punkiee!!

  4. Hagrid is one of my favorite Harry Potter characters! I love how he leads Harry around the Wizarding World and Diagon Alley as best he can. He's just such a great person with a heart bigger than he is himself (which is saying something for a half-giant). And yes, this moment is so iconic! I love it!

  5. Totally agree with you on how important Hagrid was in Harry's life. ♥ Hagrid giving Dudley the piggy tail is definitely one of my faves, lol; Dudley had it coming! And I also always loved how Hagrid gave Harry the album with photos of his parents in it; the scene was so well done in the film, too!

  7. Hagrid deserves more credits indeed. He was there all the time. He changed Harry's life and that moment where he gave him that birthday cake <3 it immediately showed what a generous and big heart he has.
