Top Ten Tuesday #35

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish which features a variety of bookish top ten lists!

Top Ten Books I've Recently Added To My TBR

Thief of Lies - A book about a book that magically transports the reader to the most beautiful libraries in the world. Plus? Wizards and Demonic Hounds. Yes please!

The Dark Days Club - Regency London! Demons! Plus quite a few of my closest blogger friends have already read and loved this so clearly, I need it.

The Long Way To A Small Angry Planet - When this started making its rounds, for some reason I thought it was a contemporary. What even? When I recently found out it was sci-fi, I quickly scolded myself...and added it to my tbr shelf.

His Majesty's Dragon - Dragons. Am I right? Who needs to know anything else? Oh and it's also written by the women who brought us Uprooted, so I am sold.

Doctor Who Time Lord Fairytales - Because Doctor Who. And fairytales. More specifically, myths and legends that young Time Lords grew up on. GIMME.

Persuasion - In recently setting up a goal to read more classics - and through the prompting of my friend Lee - it's come to my attention that Persuasion wasn't even on my reading list, so I quickly fixed that.

Riders - So the main character here dies and then becomes one of the four horseman of the Apocalypse. Whaaa?  I must know all the things! Holy unique premise Batman.

Sherlock: The Mind Palace: A Colouring Book Adventure - With my recent adult colouring book kick, I'll admit I screeched a bit when I saw one for Sherlock :D Oh and don't mind how mushed up the cover looks, I cropped it to fit in with the rest...

Titans - Mechanical Horses. No. Scratch that. Mechanical Horse RACES.  Cool! Plus it's a YA standalone without the romance romance. A rarity - I must have it!

Strange The Dreamer - Moving beyond the fact that this is by Laini Taylor and it'd be on my tbr for that fact alone, just reading the synopsis made me fall in love. This sounds fantastic!

  2. Ahh, I loved The Dark Days Club! The wait for the sequel is going to be very hard indeed. xD

  3. So Strange The Dreamer just went instantly on to my TBR!

Titans is on my list this week too, and both The Dark Days Club and A Long Way to a Small Angry Planet are on my list to eventually get to too. I saw the Time Lord Fairytales over Christmas and I have to say, the hardback is stunning in real life (and has no dust jacket so I was always bound to love it!)

  4. The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet is also on my TBR pile! (though it ended up on queue earlier than the books I listed on my TTT this week) I'm looking forward to reading it, I heard so many good things about it :)

  5. I've been reading such great reviews lately for The Dark Days Club, so that is definitely on my list as well Micheline! And a huge YES to mechanical horse races. *spastic flail* Can't wait to get my hands on Titans:)

  7. I've thought about The Long Way To A Small Angry Planet- there was a readalong last month for SCiFi Month (guess that was November, actually) and seeing some of the posts, it sounded pretty good. :)

  8. I loved Persuasion, and I'm not much of an Austen fan. I tend to be more of a Bronte girl. But this book went on my favorites shelf. I still need to read The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet and His Majesty's Dragon.

  9. My body is so ready for the new Laini Taylor, Titans, and Riders. Those are the three books on here I NEED in my life. The Dark Days Club would be on there too but I've already read that ;)

  10. *Jumps up and down at sight of Persuasion and The Dark Days Club on your list* Ahem...I'll try to collect myself now. XD School really turned me off from reading the classics and even after all these years I still haven't quite gotten over that, so I think it's pretty ironic that my all-time favorite book, Persuasion, is a classic! I've still got a lingering book hangover from The Dark Days Club, lol. And I love the premise of Riders, too!

  11. I was so tempted by the Dark Days Club as well! I know I should be pickier with my YA reads this year, with so much good stuff coming out (like, when am I going to find the time to read them all?!) but I just had to check that book out. And oh, The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet was lovely, I think you'll really like that one!

  13. I'm really excited for Riders and Titans! And I just recently bought a copy of Persuasion! I haven't read it before, so I'm looking forward to it! I haven't read a Laini Taylor book, but I'll check that one out!

  14. Yeah, Strange the Dreamer! I can't wait for this one, I loved her other trilogy!

I'm really curious about the Temeraire series by Naomi Novik, too, but it's eight or nine books long and that scares me! I'm horrible at finishing series and I just don't know if starting such a massive one is a good idea right now. But I am impatiently waiting for her to write something new, that's for sure.

  17. I had to add a number of these to my goodreads after reading your notes on them here! I'm most keen on the unique premise ones - can never resist those! Especially when it has horses or dragons or beautiful libraries...

  18. I added Persuasion to my TBR too after reading Lee's recommendation. It looks like one I'd love. I have Dark Days Club and Thief of Lies on mine as well. I haven't seen the books you put here about dragons though, and I'm very interested. I just LOVE dragon books :D Thanks so much for sharing!
