Harry Potter Moment #127

Harry Potter Moment of the Week

Harry Potter Moment of the Week is a  meme hosted by Leah @ Uncorked Thoughts  and Me @ Lunar Rainbows Reviews. The idea is to share a favorite moment, magical item, character, spell, quote, object from the books, films or J.K.Rowling herself!  How to join up &  upcoming topics here.

Hello and happy Thursday Potter-Heads :D I hope this week has been good to you all, and if it hasn't well... at least it's almost over LOL! We've got Hogwarts classes on the brain today:

What do you think your best subject would be? Not necessarily your favorite but the one you think you'd be best at.

I have a feeling that my best subjects at Hogwarts would be either Charms or Potions (if I had a Professor I wasn't terrified of that is) Here's a brief summary on both subjects:

A charm is a spell that adds certain properties to an object or creature. Charms are distinguished from transfigurations in that a charm adds or changes properties of an object; it focuses on altering what the object does as opposed to what the object is. For example, the Colour Change Charm causes something to flash different colours; the Levitation Charm causes an object to levitate; the Cheering Charm improves upon a creature's mood. -Source

Potions is a core class and subject taught at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In this class, students learn the correct way to brew potions. They follow specific recipes and use various magical ingredients to create the potions, starting with simple ones and moving to more advanced ones as they progress in knowledge.   -Source

Charms for some reason don't seem as tricky as Transfiguration does to me, and I love the wide variety of charms to learn and chose from, with one to fit your every need and whim! On the other hand, Potion-making sounds a bit like cooking so if I had a friendly Professor I could see being quite good at that too.

  1. Oooo this is a fun question Micheline! I'm not sure what I'd be best at - is there something a little more art-based? I might be good at that then:) Potions I would fail immediately. Too much science and measuring and way too many opportunities for me to make a mistake. Sort of like baking, which is why I don't do it:)

    1. Hmmm good question Jenny^^ I don't know if there's something art-based? Maybe Ancient-Runes, if you have to draw up the Runes? I'll admit that I sucked at Potions on Pottermore...but I'm hoping real life magic would work in my favor ;)

  2. Hmm I think I would be better at potions! I love baking and that is kind of like mixing potions so I am going with that! Great question and I am loving your Potter Thursdays!!

    1. I think so too^^ I'm creative though with my cooking so it might be disastrous too - especially if Snape is breathing down my neck o.O Thank you!!

  3. Potions reminds me of cooking, too- which is why I don't think I'd be that great at it, hahaha! Charms sounds like it would be such a fun class; I'd LOVE to learn how to charm my bag like Hermione did! XD

    1. LOL^^ I can understand that! Charms truly sounds awesome - I've always had a soft spot for that class. AND YES we need that bag...we're never ever going to get over that awesomeness are we? XD

  4. I think I would do well at Charms, but Potions would be my downfall - I don't know the first thing about cooking :D

  5. I feel like I'd love those so much! I'm good at memorizing and following instructions so they'd be a lot of fun. You're right though, the Professor would have a lot to do with how well we did. Great picks :D I went a different way this week.

    1. Honestly, I feel like every single Hogwarts Class would be THE BEST ♥ I'm sure we all feel the same way there! Yeah, Potions with Slughorn seem much more...forgiving than the alternative XD

  6. If the Pottermore potion making taught me anything is that I suck at making potions. Like, seriously suck. I don't know how many attempts it would take me to get it perfectly right, only to wait an hour for it to brew, come back and then mess it up again! Sigh. I was pretty good at chemistry actually, but I remember always finding labs very stressful o_o

Charms, definitely I would love - and hopefully that means I would be good at it! I would also love Care of Magical Creatures so long as proper safety precautions were put into effect when dealing with the animals...

Love this topic and your answer :)

    1. Yeah, I sucked at Potions on Pottermore too though but it was just so tricky twirling your wand right through a laptop. I'm sure we'd be much better at the real thing ;)

Charms would be amazing I think regardless and the teacher would be an asset. As much as I love animals, Care of Magical Creatures scares me....I've been traumatized by those darn Blast-ended Skrewts O.O Thanks hun :)

  7. I also think I would be quite good at Charms! And seeing I'm into biology, I think Herbology would be one of my better subjects too :)

  8. Hmm, I think I would be good at Charms too! However, I think I would not be good at potions. It reminds me too much of Chemistry and that was not my favorite subject... ;)

    1. Yikes, I wasn't good at Chemistry either and now that you say that, Potions does sound like Chemistry....hopefully having Magic and a Wand would help XD
