Harry Potter Moment #126

Harry Potter Moment of the Week

Harry Potter Moment of the Week is a  meme hosted by Leah @ Uncorked Thoughts  and Me @ Lunar Rainbows Reviews. The idea is to share a favorite moment, magical item, character, spell, quote, object from the books, films or J.K.Rowling herself!  How to join up &  upcoming topics here.

*Disclaimer: This topic though poorly timed was thought up and posted months before the tragic news of Alan Rickman's passing last week. Despite the fact that I'm not a Snape fangirl, I adored Alan Rickman and his portrayal of Severus Snape was absolute perfection - he will be sorely missed. Rest in Peace*

Would you rather have Potions with Snape or tea with Umbridge?

Ha! Is this a trick question? I've always said I'd have been terrified of having Potions with Snape, despite the fact that I think I'd love Potion-making in general.  Snape's bullying and intimidation tactics would have totally robbed me of any confidence and turned me into a babbling, bumbling baboon >.<

But then again, I'd rather face a lifetime of Potions with Snape than sit for one measly cup of tea with Umbridge.  So potions with Snape it is!

*hurriedly and surreptitiously turns to page 394*
Always.

  1. There can be really no other way to answer that, can there? And, then, if you ended up being in Slytherin, it wouldn't be so bad at all))

    1. As much as I'm terrified of Snape as a teacher, I agree 100% Farida^^ Unfortunately, I'm a Gryffindor so I'm out of luck on that front XD

  2. Hmm. As Umbridge is the evil one, I think that's a no brainer. Definitely potions with Snape, although that would terrify me as well!

I was so sad to hear of Alan Rickman's passing. He was an excellent actor.

    1. I agree Ally^^ he scares the crap out of me but I'd take classes with him for LIFE if it meant never having to be near Umbrdige o_O

I was shocked and saddened to hear of his passing too - he was the perfect Snape ♥

  3. AGREED!!!!! Snape was terrifying when he wanted to be and I'd likely wet myself over the course of our time together in potions class, but Umbridge was on a whole other level. I at least feel like you would always know where you stood with him whereas Umbridge would smile in your face and then stab you in the back. Grrrr. I loved to hate that woman!

    1. hahahah SAME HERE Jenny but even still Snape is so much better than Umbridge it's not even funny. And you're right: at least is Snape hates you, he's honest about it. Umbridge is phony and two-faced!

  5. I think I'd rather sit through Potions with Snape AND write the werewolf essay like five hundred times before having tea with Umbridge. *shudder*

  6. Page 394 :D I saw a teacher tell someone to turn to that page in another book and it made me smile. I definitely would rather put up with Snape in a class that I'd enjoy than have to pretend to be civil to Umbridge.

    1. That will always be one of my favorite lines XD

I agree, at least you'd be learning something with Snape, instead of being tortured by Umbridge!

  7. AGREED. I am not a Snape fan at all...although I read his death the same day the actor died. Like completely unintentional. I just was reading HP7 for the first time and went online and...boom. So I felt really...really sad and confused about my feelings?!?! I haven't seen any of the movies yet but I DEFINITELY will this year!! I would still rather take potions because at least Snape didn't physically abuse like Umbridge did. :O

Thanks for stopping by @ Paper Fury!

    1. Woah, that's kind of trippy o.O I didn't mourn much for Snape but I certainly mourned Alan Rickman...Oh I can't wait for you to see the movies!! And I'm with you: Snape is a bully but at least you get to learn Potions...with Umbridge she's just abusive and crazy D:

  8. The stuff of nightmares, both of them o_o But yeah, I think I would come down on the side of Potions with Snape, as well, over that evil witch!

    1. 100%^^ In the end though, at least you're learning something practical with Snape...instead of tea and torture with toadface O_O

  9. Wow, that’s one hell of a question to answer! Hmm, let me think. Clumsy as I am, potion class would probably my version of a personal hell. So I guess I’d pick tea with Umbridge. Not that would be much bette, to be honest XD

    1. I know, neither choice is terribly appealing LOL! Yikes! Good luck with Umbridge though D:
