Happy Birthday Harry Potter! ♥

Harry Potter Month
Harry Potter Month is a yearly event taking place throughout the month of July, to coincide with Harry Potter's birthday. Hosted by Faith @ GeekyZooGirl and myself here at Lunar Rainbows Reviews, the aim is to fill the month with all things Potter.  There will be themed posts, discussions, art and fans rereading the books and rewatching the movies, all of which will earn the participants House-Points towards the House Cup at the end of the month. For more information or to sign up, click here.

Hi everyone and Happy Harry Potter Day!! Today marks Harry Potter's 35th birthday, and at the risk of making myself feel old, I take comfort in the fact that I'm the same age as The Boy Who Lived!

This means that today is the last day of Harry Potter Month, and if it wasn't already obvious, I had a blast chatting with all of you throughout July, gushing about our favorite characters, favorite books, favorite quotes and favorite moments! Thank you so much to everyone who participated and who went above and beyond what both Faith and I expected. This was such a HUGE success, on all fronts and we couldn't have managed it without you all ♥ Ok, I'll stop myself here before I turn into an emotional mess XD

I'm really digging this new find^^ can't you tell? ;)

Because of how important today is - it's basically THE reason we have HP Month in July - I wanted to give a shoutout to The Boy Who Lived (again). Last year, I posted a long, gushy post sharing why I love Harry so much, so I won't bore you with more of the same this year. Instead, I'll keep it simple:

Happy Birthday Harry Potter

You are, and will forever be my hero of all heroes.

You are, and will forever be my favorite character of all time.

You are incredibly strong, brave, caring, clever and full of love.

You are an inspiration that never fails to give me hope.

Since I read the series, I've often thought: WWHD - What Would Harry Do?

I know I've said it before, but if I said it every day for the rest of my life, it still wouldn't be enough:

Harry Potter Moment #101

Harry Potter Moment of the Week

Harry Potter Moment of the Week is a  meme hosted by Leah @ Uncorked Thoughts  and Me @ Lunar Rainbows Reviews. The idea is to share a favorite moment, magical item, character, spell, quote, object from the books, films or J.K.Rowling herself!  How to join up &  upcoming topics here.

Which Book(s) Would You Recommend to Draco?

Haha! This type of question was one of my favorite suggestions from you all^^ It was a tough one, but I had a blast thinking about it and weighing my options. In the end, I could only come up with one book that I'd really want to recommend to Draco, and it originated as an Anime Series:

Avatar: The Last Airbender

In my defence, there are books but they're a continuation of the Anime Series, so I'd recommend for Draco to watch the series, and then move on the the books. Yes, all of them. My reasoning is this: Seeing Zuko as a villain who turns things around might inspire Draco to grow a pair and do the right thing. I don't even care when he gets around to doing this. They could be after the events of Deathly Hallows. So long as he familiarizes himself with the lot. I like to imagine Draco totally digging Zuko in Book 1 when he's all spoiled and hell-bent on taking down Aang. But then, as Zuko mellows out and comes to his senses, it might just be wake up call dear old Draco needs to come to his senses!

I'm super curious: what did you guys pick?!

Dear Miss Rowling

Harry Potter Month

Hi everyone! Today I've got something a little different for you all. I've always wanted to write a letter to Queen J.K. Rowling and tell her how her books changed my life but like, HOW do you find the words to tell someone something like that?! Without coming off like a crazed fangirl. Not that I'm saying that I'm not a crazed fangirl because, hello, I totally am. It's just that I would want my letter to be perfect and of course, it never could be. So this year, I decided to do the next best thing and write an open letter to JKR and share it with the people I know will not only forgive my rabid fangirling, but will understand it too!

Dear Miss Rowling,

I've always loved reading for as long as I can remember. As early as 5 years old, I could be found with a book in my hand, be it a comic book, a contemporary, a magazine, a biography or a historical. Throughout my school years, I continued to devour books and my Summers off from school would be spent sitting out in the sun with one book or another to keep me company. Unfortunately, my University years were filled with books of the not-so-fun variety and with being a full-time student and keeping a part-time job throughout, reading for fun was out of the question. I came out of my studies thoroughly sick of books and reading. How sad! It wasn't until I was well into my first year as an official adult on the job market that I realized something was missing in my life. I wasn't reading for fun anymore and since I was no longer being forced to read not-for-fun, I truly missed it. But try as I might to fix this, I couldn't for the life of me find any books to get me excited about reading again. I was lost and it felt like a piece of my soul was missing. *cough* horcrux reference *cough*

As you might have guessed, it was indeed The Harry Potter Series that brought it all crashing back. I'd never read straight up fantasy before but I knew that I could enjoy the genre because I was a fan of many fantasy-movies. Despite that, I was in no way prepared for how profoundly the story of an 11-year old orphan would impact my life. I'm sure that you must hear this all the time, but your series changed my life and that is in no way an exaggeration. I can't even remember what it was like to live in a world without Harry Potter. It feels like the series and it's characters are as much a part of me as my family, my DNA or my own heart.  Following Harry's adventures as he learned to navigate the magical world, struggled to find out who he is, learned of his destiny and went out and saves the world taught me more about love, friendship, bravery, sacrifice, loss, family and hope than any other teachings or religious texts have ever come close to doing. Never have I been more moved, more inspired and more changed by something that all happened inside of my head.

Harry himself, as a character is without of doubt my hero of all heroes and my biggest role-model. If faced with an especially challenging situation, I often ask myself 'What Would Harry Do?'. Sometimes it helps, but other times it just makes me smile and eases some of the tension, which we all know can make a world of difference on it's own. I know that Harry isn't perfect, but it's his flaws, along with his formidable qualities that make him so incredibly amazing to me. Despite the fact that I'm currently the same age as Harry is in the present day, I feel no shame in saying that I want to be like Harry when I grow up.

Seeing as this letter is address to you Miss Rowling, I wanted to end it by saying THANK YOU. Thank you for EVERYTHING. Thank you for coming up with an idea and not giving up no matter what life threw your way. Thank you for giving the world a hero that would transcend age, race, gender and status. One that would bring the entire world together and would forever change who we are as readers. Thank you for gifting us with a story that would define a generation and become a classic in the same breath, one that will continue to touch lives for generations to come. Thank you for bringing back my love of reading, for introducing me to my favorite genre: fantasy and for helping me discover hundreds and hundreds of other books, if only to nurse my never-ending Harry Potter withdrawal. In short, thank you for being unapologetically you. You have been and continue to be an inspiration, not just with your work as an author, but as a humanitarian, a feminist and a source of aspiration in all of our lives.

So again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
Yours truly,
Micheline

Top Ten Tuesday #28

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish which features a variety of bookish top ten lists!

Top Ten Characters Who Are Fellow Book Nerds (love reading, are writers, work at a bookstore, etc.)

Jasnah (The Stormlight Archive) - Jasnah is a educated and well-read woman who lives for reading and research.   Her topics of interest are usually controversial, but she doesn't let that deter her from her quest for knowledge. A woman after my own heart!

Hermione (Harry Potter) - Could this list even exist without Hermione?! She's the ultimate book nerd and she reads books like regular people breathe air. She's a kindred spirit of mine as I know she is for most of you guys too.

Celaena (Throne of Glass) - An assassin who loves to read (and loves fashion), Celaena is a girl after my own heart. I knew I would love her to pieces the moment that she professed her love of books and I'm such a fan of how she treasures her favorite reads.

Sokka (Avatar: The Last Airbender) - Granted, this wasn't a book series at first, but there are tons of books moving ahead with the story now. One of the best things about Sokka is how he reminded me of Hermione at times...i.e: he wanted to have a vacation at a library :D

Gandalf (Lord of the Rings) - I love picturing Gandalf when he heads out to research the one ring, going over book after book. The old wizard doesn't shy away from giant old tomes and that makes me happy.

Barrons (The Fever Series) - This dreamy bad boy OWNS his own BOOKSTORE. Yeah. Hello? This is easily my dream come true. Can I come and work for you sir? Pleeeease!!

Dumbledore (Harry Potter) - We all know that Dumbledore was a HUGE nerd at Hogwarts and that as a wise old man, he kept tons of books in his office. What I wouldn't give to be able to check out his collection

Anne Shirley (Anne of Green Gables) - Speaking of kindred spirits. Anne loved stories, reading, was a hopeless romantic and had an imagination to rival almost anyone's. Growing up, I felt like this was a girl who understood me.

John Watson (Sherlock Holmes) - This guy is always writing about Sherlock's adventures. How can you not love a guy like that? I especially like that in the BBC Series, they made him into a blogger XD

Cath (Fangirl) - Soooo Cath obsesses over a book series, and then proceeds to write rocking fanfiction about said series. Yeah, this girl is a soulmate to all of us

Did I forget anyone important? Let me know!

An Ode to Sirius Black

Harry Potter Month
Harry Potter Month is a yearly event taking place throughout the month of July, to coincide with Harry Potter's birthday. Hosted by Faith @ GeekyZooGirl and myself here at Lunar Rainbows Reviews, the aim is to fill the month with all things Potter.  There will be themed posts, discussions, art and fans rereading the books and rewatching the movies, all of which will earn the participants House-Points towards the House Cup at the end of the month. Helllloooo fellow Potterheads! Today I'm going to be gushing about my (our) beloved Sirius Black, because in two Harry Potter Months and weekly Harry Potter Moments, I clearly feel that I haven't done enough of that already ;D  In case it wasn't already painfully obvious, I freaking love the guy, but then again, I do have a thing for tortured rebels. Here are some of the reasons why Sirius Black has made a hopeless fangirl out of me:

An Ode to Sirius Black

  • For starters, Sirius was the Black sheep (hihi) of his family and that's always been oddly appealing to me. Where they were all vile and filled with pure-blood mania, Sirius was willing to befriend Muggle-Borns and Blood-Traitors alike...not to mention the occasional Werewolf ;)
  • Despite his family's wild and mostly offensive beliefs, Sirius still grew up with a (mostly) strong moral compass. Sure he's reckless and has a wicked sense of humor, but in his defence, Snape was trying to nose around (with that big nose of his) and get poor Lupin into trouble for something that wasn't Lupin's fault to begin with. Nevertheless, it's not my favorite Sirius memory, but he, he was young and impulsive.
  • Sirius sounds like he was very much legendary when he was at Hogwarts. He was cool, dreamy, brooding and he and his friends got up to all kinds of mischief. Hell, the formed The Marauders and basically owned the school. Not to mention the fact that they created THE MOST AWESOME MAP OF LIFE, but they were all ANIMAGUS!! That's insane! Like, as much as Harry, Ron and Hermione accomplished, and as brilliant as Hermione is, none of them ever became Animagus!
  • More to the point, the friendship between that foursome is seriously epic. Yes stupid Wormtail went and messed it all up, but before that those boys were doing anything and everything for one another. They were solid as a rock and after the fact, the three remaining good Marauders remain just as devoted.
  • But back to the man of the hour: Sirius is the perfect mixture of brooding, dark rebel with a heart. He's loyal to a fault, he's reckless but he's got a heart as big as Hogwarts.  I love how he became of part of James' family growing up, how he loved Lily just as much when she and James became a unit and how devoted, protective and loving he was to Harry. ♥
  • Sirius lost so much but he never let it extinguish his light. After losing his two best friends, suspecting his other best friend of treason and finally discovering that another friend was the traitor, the poor soul gets sent to AZKABAN and has to suffer 13 years there, as an innocent, knowing full well that his best friends' son is out there on his own. I can't even imagine how heartbreaking and awful that all must have been for him but despite that, he comes out a little more crazy but no less loving and devoted.
  • Sirius is the classic tortured hero with a touch of anti-hero that I tend to obsess about quite easily. Of course, it doesn't hurt that he was brought to life by the glorious Gary Oldman
  • Sirius is unbelievably brave and he lived his life unapologetically his way. This started at a very young age and I find that terribly inspiring.  He showed bravery by being himself, believing in what he chose to and not letting his family dictate any of it. He was brave to explore Hogwarts as he did, and to turn himself into an Animagus. He was brave when he joined The Order of the Phoenix, and when he fought against You-Know-Who. He was brave when his best friends died and he went looking for them, when he faced Azkaban and of course, when he escaped. O.O
  • Sirius is a BAMF. And I'm not even going to explain myself here, I'm just going to show you all this:
  • And finally, Sirius was a father-figure that Harry so desperately needed. I mean, I know Harry had Dumbledore and Hagrid, but he also needed someone who knew his parents, someone who tied him to them and made him feel like there was a connection there. His parents had chosen Sirius as Harry's godfather and I know that meant the world to the poor kid. After everything Sirius had suffered, after everything he lost, I also know that Sirius needed Harry just as much as Harry needed him. Thinking about that makes my heart swell and it also makes me thankful that they found each other, even if their time together was much too short.

And that my friends is my Ode to Sirius Black. For all of these reasons^^ and more, I love him to pieces! What about you guys?

Fandom Mashup #12

Fandom Mashups
Fandom Mashups is a new original feature here at Lunar Rainbows Reviews and it's basically my way of creating dream teams of all my fandoms and having some fun with them.  The idea is that every week, I propose a unique fictional scenario and then build my personal dream team of five fictional characters from five different fandoms to complete the task!  Anyone is welcome to join in on the fandom fun and whip up a post - all I ask is that you link back to me somewhere in your post :)

Hello to everyone and happy Sunday! I hope you all have been getting a nicer Summer than we have over here. The start of July was uncomfortably hot and humid but for the last few weeks it's been frigid and raining non-stop. I've resorted to wearing socks and slippers. IN THE SUMMER! The horror!  In any case, I hope you're all ready for this week's Fandom Mashup:

Some villain's out there wrecking havoc and in need of a serious beat-down. Who do you bring with you to kick some ass?

Kaladin (Stormlight Archive)

Kaladin is the definition of EPIC. In fact, I'm pretty sure that if you look up 'epic' in the dictionary, there's a picture of Kaladin right there. XD  In all seriousness though, Kaladin can THROW DOWN like nobody's business and his powers would definitely come in handy.

Batman

Uhm...yeah. If someone's in need of a beatdown, Batman is my automatic go-to. Obviously, he's one of my heroes of all heroes but he's also a legendary ass-kicker. If someone's out there wrecking havoc, Batman will get to him in no time and he'll make him pay O.O

Celaena

Was there ever any doubt? This lady's made my list just about every damn week. Why? Pft, you all know why! In this case though, Celaena would basically be a female Batman. Plus, I'd LOVE to see the two of them work together :D

Dean Winchester

As much as I love me some Sam, everyone knows that Dean is the Winchester to go to if someone needs to get their butt handed to them. Not that Sam wouldn't be up for the job, but Dean takes a lot of pleasure into catching a bad guy and watching him squirm.

Vin (Mistborn)

And, then there's Vin and I think she's another fairly obvious choice. Vin can fight along with the best of them, and her powers would come in wicked handy. Between her and Kaladin, this villain doesn't stand a snowball's chance in hell.

Review: Apollyon

Apollyon by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Covenant #4
Published April 4th 2013 by Spencer Hill Press

Fate isn’t something to mess with… and now, neither is Alex.

Alex has always feared two things: losing herself in the Awakening and being placed on the Elixir. But love has always been stronger than Fate, and Aiden St. Delphi is willing to make war on the gods—and Alex herself—to bring her back.

The gods have killed thousands and could destroy entire cities in their quest to stop Seth from taking Alex’s power and becoming the all-powerful God Killer. But breaking Alex’s connection to Seth isn’t the only problem. There are a few pesky little loopholes in the whole “an Apollyon can’t be killed” theory, and the only person who might know how to stop the destruction has been dead for centuries.

Finding their way past the barriers that guard the Underworld, searching for one soul among countless millions, and then somehow returning will be hard enough. Alex might be able to keep Seth from becoming the God Killer… or she might become the God Killer herself.
Apollyon is the fourth book in The Covenant Series and as some of you might know, I like to take my time with series, so while I started reading the first book three years ago, I'm only reading book number 4 now. In most cases, this works out fine for me. If I'm willing to continue with the series, it means I'm invested enough in it that the time in between books doesn't really factor into my enjoyment. With this series however, I think it would have been in my best interest to read them all back to back. My reading tastes have evolved quite a bit since then and a lot of stuff that I used to enjoy - or at least tolerate - tends to get on my nerves now. So as much as I'm invested in seeing this series through at this point, I have some issues now that weren't there before...

So. Apollyon tells of the continuing adventures of Alex as she trains up to fight daimons, or gods, or the other Apollyon...ok basically everyone. Alex is training to fight them all. After the events of the previous books, Alex is now a fully awakened Apollyon herself, which isn't without it's complications.  First, she was basically Seth 2.0, which was entertaining and new to say the least. Finally, she fought that off and became more or less herself again, with the exception of her eyes, which match Seth's still.  Alex has been through a lot and she's matured quite a bit, but she's still as feisty and impulsive as ever. I liked how she was back to training again now, despite being out of school and how her new powers came into play. She's basically an elemental now and we all know how much I love those. And when you pair elemental magic with mythology and gods? Well you certainly have my attention!

As usual, this installment is romance-heavy. I wouldn't say it's the main focus, but it's right up there with Alex's faith and the faith of the world.  The romance used to be my favorite thing about the series. Sure, there was a love-triangle for a bit there, but to me, it was always obvious who Alex would end up with.  This time around though, as much as the romance was satisfying and pretty much triangle-less, I grew tired of hearing about how perfect Aiden is. We get it, he's ridiculously handsome, he could have been chiseled out of marble, he's reminiscent of Greek gods. *eye roll* The worst bit was that his eyes changed color every other sentence. Aiden's eyes were liquid silver. Aiden's eyes went gunmetal grey. His eyes went from silver to steel in an instant.  *groan* Normal people with normal eyes can be just as appealing as this stuff! I can't be the only one who thinks so?! Also, I've heard of people whose eyes change color, but do they REALLY change colors every two seconds? I don't think so.

I don't know if it was the constant eye-changes or that I just outgrew this series but I struggled to get through Apollyon, and it's not because it's a big book. I put it on pause for weeks. Weeks! I was curious about the outcome, and I knew I'd get back to it, I just couldn't seem to focus. There were a few other issues as well, firstly, I guessed the identity of the ''mystery God'' right from the word go, so the big reveal at the end was anticlimactic. And second, Miss JLA actually wrote in text-speak. TMI? More like WTF?!  Despite it all, with one book left in the series, I know I'll finish the thing. I will say that the novella that comes before this Elixir (Covenant #3.5) is pretty much a must, otherwise you'd miss an important chunk of information and plot about Alex, her transformation, Aiden, and well, the elixir itself.  The novella was fun because it's written from Aiden's POV, and despite his annoying habit to change his eyes every other scene, he's still pretty dreamy.

My Rating: 2.5 out of 5 Stars

Harry Potter Moment #100

Harry Potter Moment of the Week

Harry Potter Moment of the Week is a  meme hosted by Leah @ Uncorked Thoughts  and Me @ Lunar Rainbows Reviews. The idea is to share a favorite moment, magical item, character, spell, quote, object from the books, films or J.K.Rowling herself!  How to join up &  upcoming topics here.

Favorite James Potter Moment

Sacrificing his life, without a wand, to save his wife and son ♥

I know a lot of people don't like him, because he was shown to bully Snape. What they forget is that Snape was also a bully towards James. They hated each other - the bullying went both ways.  We saw Snape's memories but if we had seen James' too, the story would have been the same from the other side. Now obviously, James wasn't the man Harry grew up to be and the bottom line is that yes James was a jerk when he was younger but he was also caring. He loved Lily. He loved his friends. He saved Snape from Sirius' horrible prank. He became an Animagus so Lupin wouldn't be alone. He welcomed Sirius into his home and made him feel like family. He even accepted and befriended Wormtail, despite the fact that Wormtail was a rat and a coward. James might have been spoiled but he was also loved and he had that love in his heart.

No, James wasn't perfect, but he wasn't  the horrible bully that people remember him as either and I'm sorry but facing Voldemort without a weapon; facing certain death to give your wife and baby a fighting chance is not only as brave as it gets, but it shows an incredible amount of love.

Why I Love Deathly Hallows ♥

Harry Potter Month
Harry Potter Month is a yearly event taking place throughout the month of July, to coincide with Harry Potter's birthday. Hosted by Faith @ GeekyZooGirl and myself here at Lunar Rainbows Reviews, the aim is to fill the month with all things Potter.  There will be themed posts, discussions, art and fans rereading the books and rewatching the movies, all of which will earn the participants House-Points towards the House Cup at the end of the month. For more information or to sign up, click here.

Hi everyone! I hope I'm not overflowing you all with my Harry Potter posts - yesterday's was supposed to be posted on Monday to have a break between the two, but it slipped my mind so we've got a double-feature going on here XD In any case, this year I've already shared all about why I love Prisoner of Azkaban and Half-Blood Prince, but today I'm talking about my absolute top favorite book of all time:

Why I Love Deathly Hallows

Deathly Hallows is THE book for me.  If I could only have ONE book to read over and over again, this one would be it.  There are no words to express how much of an impact this final chapter of the series had on me. The moment I finished reading it, I started the entire series all over again simply because I wanted to see all of the pieces of the series fit together so that I could bask in Deathly Hallows all over again.  It simultaneously changed my view of the entire series and made it all make sense in the same beat.  Simply put, it blew.me.away. and I was left shattered and content, wrung out and satisfied all at once.  To me, Deathly Hallows is perfection, which says a lot considering the mad hype that preceded the last book of a phenomenal series, not to mention how HIGH everyone's hopes were about this one. The pressure was one and Miss Rowling delivered. And then some! Here are some of the reasons why my love for this book knows no bounds:

  • As much as I adore Hogwarts, I loved that DH takes place largely outside of the school.  It shows how mature Harry has become and how he now has to face real-life situations to do what has to be done. Of course, I'm always thrilled when they go back, not just because it's at such a critical stage in the story, but because Hogwarts will always be our home. ♥
  • I think it's very cool that the trio are off on their own in this one, with no adults to help them on. Despite a few bumps here and there, their characters have grown so much at this point and they continue to do so here. The evolution of their friendship makes me smile for days.
  • I think that despite Harry and Ron's friendship taking a hit when Ron leaves, Harry knows that 'the Horcrux made him do it' and Ron more than makes up for it by coming back and saving Harry. I think that Harry and Hermione's friendship progresses the most though.  They really become the best of friends in this one since Hermione is with Harry during so many critical moments here!

  • More than all the previous books, DH has a 'quest' feel to it and for those of you who know me best - you know I love my quest stories! The search for the Horcruxes is all-consuming and with the discovery of each new one, the urgency steps up and the stakes grow ever higher.
  • This is the book where Dumbledore falls from grace. Seen as an all-knowing god-figure up to this point, it was painful at first to learn about his past mistakes in the harsh light of Rita Skeeter's words. Despite that, I think JKR was right to make Dumbledore human.  As readers we needed to see him that way. We needed to know that he wasn't coming back. That he wasn't perfect. That he was a regular, albeit brilliant human.  That way, Harry sees that it's possible for a normal person to accomplish extraordinary feats...and Harry does so with much less mistakes than Dumbledore did if you ask me.
  • In Deathly Hallows, we get to see Harry finally return home. To Godric's Hollow.  In one of the most poignant moments of the entire series, we get to see where Harry had a family, and where he lost everything. Those memorials for his family and the preservation of his childhood home complete with messages from well-wishing wizards still make my heart swell and ache.
  • As morbid as this might sound, when Voldemort almost catches Harry in Godric's Hollow, we get to witness the story from Voldemort's side.  How HE remembers that fateful night when  he set off to kill Harry and murdered James and Lily. As horrifying as it is, it's also ridiculously engrossing and I so appreciate getting to see that famous moment from the villain's perspective.  It says a lot about how presumptuous and conceited Voldemort was...and how it all blew up in his face.
  • THE HALLOWS! Gah! That was another piece of magical lore that Blew. Me. Away.  I so needed them to be real, just like Harry did, and to this day one of my favorite bits of the story is the fact that Harry himself was the only wizard able to wield all three Hallows.  It's THE reason for my DH tattoo after all ♥
  • As I mentioned above, I do adore when the trio return to Hogwarts, especially because they get to BREAK IN WHILE it's under siege by Death Eaters. So, they break into The Ministry of Magic, Gringotts AND Hogwarts.  The three most secure places in the Magical Community. Broken into by three 17-year olds.  All of those breakins are some of the most iconic moments in modern literature in my book.

  • Deathly Hallows is the book where we finally learn the whole truth about Snape.  A mystery that was 7-books in the making. Love him or hate him, his Pensieve moments were wholly engrossing. I don't think I blinked at all O.O
  • With the major revelation about Snape, we also get the TRUTH about EVERYTHING. Harry finally finds out what he has residing inside of his head, where his scar is and what he needs to do to end Voldemort for good. I don't think my feelings have ever been hit so hard as they were in that moment.  The way JKR writes that scene, with Harry realizing how his heart is beating, how life is precious, and what he needs to do next. I.just.can't. THIS is why Harry is my hero of all heroes guys. I.CAN'T.EVEN.
  • I have entire chapters in this book that are favorites, chapters I could bask in for days.  Chapter 24, The Wandmaker because it's when Harry finally gets it. Hallows. Horcruxes. Dumbledore's plan. The fact that Dumbledore really did tell him everything he needed to know, he simply had to figure the rest out at the right time. And then there's Chapter 34, The Forest Again. Sigh. I have too many FEELS about this one so I won't get into it other than to say that Harry's Sacrifice (with a capital 'S', yes) means everything and his use of the Resurrection Stone is perfection and I HAVE TOO MANY FEELS!
  • I know some people don't, but I ADORE the King's Cross chapter. I wanted/needed/loved Harry getting one final chat with Dumbledore. Like he always did, he gives us insight that we probably wouldn't have picked up on, he explains things to Harry so that Harry fully understands what went down, and what's left to accomplish.  I just sighed deeply just thinking about their one last talk. ♥
  • Finally, there's the most epic of all epic battles, the horrible losses that shatter my heart and soul, the final showdown that WINS EVERYTHING, the perfect ending that is perfect and the Epilogue that might be cheesy to some but that I NEEDED for closure and for peace of mind and because I NEEDED HARRY TO BE OK AND I NEEDED PROOF.
So, once again, talking about DH has made me use way too many hearts, caps and exclamation points! Since I've already dissolved into a pile of incoherent fangirling, I'll stop myself here. I just live for this book guys. Deathly Hallows is my everything.

Harry Potter Humor

Harry Potter Month
Harry Potter Month is a yearly event taking place throughout the month of July, to coincide with Harry Potter's birthday. Hosted by Faith @ GeekyZooGirl and myself here at Lunar Rainbows Reviews, the aim is to fill the month with all things Potter.  There will be themed posts, discussions, art and fans rereading the books and rewatching the movies, all of which will earn the participants House-Points towards the House Cup at the end of the month. Harry Potter Jokes & Memes from the Web

Hi all! This post was supposed to go up yesterday but in my morning rush I completely forgot about it *oops*  So, this means I'll have back to back Harry Potter Month posts today and tomorrow...hopefully no one will mind too too much >.<

Alright, so let's get to it: I did a similar post last year, sharing all my favorite memes from the fandom but I noticed that I'd collected a lot more since then - enough to make up another post even. This year, I've decided to focus (mostly) on fandom humor, so I hope you'll enjoy these as much as I do:

All of these images can be found on my Pinterest board: Harry Potter ϟ The Boy Who Lived and their credits/sources can be found there as well
