Harry Potter Moment #123

Harry Potter Moment of the Week

Harry Potter Moment of the Week is a  meme hosted by Leah @ Uncorked Thoughts  and Me @ Lunar Rainbows Reviews. The idea is to share a favorite moment, magical item, character, spell, quote, object from the books, films or J.K.Rowling herself!  How to join up &  upcoming topics here.

Happy New Year's Eve everybody!  Hopefully everyone is recuperated from Christmas and ready to have some fun tonight! Please be safe if you're going out - and if you're staying in please chill responsibly ;) I will be ringing in the New Year in a truly nerdy fashion by (finally) going to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens :D  Here's our last Harry Potter Moment topic of 2015:

Favorite wand from the series? (Not one you'd want for yourself but your favorite out of the ones we learned about.)

Literally NO ONE will be surprised that I couldn't possibly narrow it down to just one.  Narrowing things down just isn't my strong suit.  Also, I doubt anyone of you will be surprised by my answer(s):

Harry's Wand and the Elder Wand

I went with Harry's Wand first because that sucker was a life saver. Time and time again that Wand just owned it.  When it chose Harry, we had no way of knowing how special it would end up being.  I've always loved how the core comes from Dumbledore's Phoenix especially...and looking up the meaning of a Holly Core just shows how much attention to detail JKR put into the smallest of details...

And speaking of Dumbledore...as much as The Elder Wand is WAY more trouble than it's worth, it's also wicked cool.  I mean, the core comes from a Thestral!  I love those creatures, despite their sort of morbid vibe. Obviously, you'd need to keep your mouth shut if ever you got your hands on this wand - like Dumbledore did. Even though I wouldn't want it for myself, I'm still fascinated by it and it's origin.

  1. You picked great ones. I loved the story behind the Elder Wand. I love how the core comes from a Threstral of all creatures. It seemed very fitting actually. Plus they are among my favorite HP creatures ^^ I hope you enjoy the movie and have fun! Happy New Year Micheline <3

  2. It wasn't the Elder Wand, but I always thought that Harry's wand was very special in its own way. It certainly did save his life multiple times, and I was as shattered as Harry was when it looked like his wand was a goner. The Elder Wand definitely came in handy to fix that situation, lol!

    1. Yup, if anything Harry's Wand was MORE special, especially for his situation! It got him out of some tight spots and it never failed him. I was devastated when it got destroyed...the fact that he had the presence of mind to know it could be fixed with the Elder Wand in the end was amazing. If only they'd put that in the movie O.O LOL!

  4. Both of these wands have excellent history. J.K. Rowling really knows how to make the smallest objects incredibly compelling. I love that she out so much thought into all of the wands but these are by far my favorite! :D Happy New Year!

    1. Wandlore was one of my absolutely favourite magical aspects of the entire thing to be honest! I'm fascinated about every single wand combination LOL but it's like you said: out of all of these, these are my favourite. Happy New Year right back at you :D

  5. I just love Harry Potter. Great choices! I agree that I wouldn't want the Elder Wand for myself, but it is fascinating! And powerful. I probably would have chosen Harry's and Voldemort's wands because of the connection they had! I thought that was interesting.

    1. Completely agree on the Elder Wand - I love thinking about it, but I wouldn't want to own it...or be anywhere near it for too long XD Harry's Wand will always be a favorite of mine. I like the core/wood combo even before we found out how dead useful it was! Thanks for stopping by Ally^^ x

  6. The Elder Wand fascinates me as well! Zane and I have that one here. I love that you went with Harry's wand. I thought the fact that the feather came from Fawkes was a stroke of genius! His wand was definitely meant for him and it's great that he fixed it with the Elder Wand and kept it close because you're right I wouldn't want to own that one either.

    1. NICE^^ I have Harry's (big surprise right?!) LOL! The fact that Fawkes tail feathers are the core to both Harry's and Voldemort's wands further proves how Dumbledore was an intricate part of those two wizard's faith and I love JKR for the amount of forethought she had with this - and so many other things ♥
