Harry Potter Moment #121

Harry Potter Moment of the Week

Harry Potter Moment of the Week is a  meme hosted by Leah @ Uncorked Thoughts  and Me @ Lunar Rainbows Reviews. The idea is to share a favorite moment, magical item, character, spell, quote, object from the books, films or J.K.Rowling herself!  How to join up &  upcoming topics here.

Which books would you recommend to Ron?

The Lord of the Rings - Ron has been known to have self-esteem issues because he's best friends with The Chosen One. But you know who else was best friends with a chosen one? Samwise Gamgee. And everyone knows that Sam is the REAL HERO of Lord of the Rings.  Maybe knowing Sam would have helped Ron come to terms with his predicament...and make the most of it! He would not like Shelob though...O.O

Sherlock Holmes - Sherlock is famous for his deduction skills, so hopefully Ron would have learned a thing or two about deducing. And then maybe he would have clued into his feelings for Hermione BEFORE getting himself into hot water, like a million times!

Spider-Man - On a brighter note for spiders: hopefully this web slinging hero could help Ron to see those leggy creatures in a whole new light! I mean sure, spiders are icky, but then you can get bitten by one and become a hero like Spider-Man! They're not just the stuff of nightmares anymore!  I think that poor Ron could use a hero like that...

Anne of Green Gables - Beside being a fellow ginger (haha!) and all around awesome character, Anne could help Ron deal with not being especially well-off financially.  Anne never had much in the way of money, but she was always happy with her life, thanks to a little imagination and a lot of nerve!

  1. These are all amazing choices! I think Ron would really like Spiderman, even if he's terrified of spiders. And Sam would have been such a great role model for him! I never read Anne of Green Gables but it sounds like a good book for Ron as well. And Sherlock is amazing as well.
Hopefully some of Sherlock's deductive skills will rub off on him. I can see it now. Ron rips his way through that book and comes out displaying his new deductive reasoning skills to both Harry and Hermione, only they not quite right. "Oh you're missing a shoe! Let me solve this mystery! Since you always take your shoes off at the back door, it must be there! Wait. What. Why is it under our bed?!" He'd get the swing of it eventually though.

    1. Thank you :D I'm hoping that Spiderman would alleviate his fear of spiders in any case LOL! And well Sam is a role model for everyone - I love him so much ♥ When I picked Anne, it was mostly for the similar financial situations...until I realized that she and Ron were both ginger XD

I LOVE your Sherlock/Potter scenario^^ It fits perfectly! I can just picture Harry and Hermione sharing a look and Hermione rolling her eyes hahahaha I think Ron would eventually get the hang of it too :)

  2. Awww Samwise! I just love him. Ron could definitely have benefited from reading that one. I think it's hilarious to have Spiderman in there. It would be great to think of spiders as something not too terribly bad! Plus he could use a little web-slinging heroism in his life. Sherlock would've been great for any of the trio! They definitely fancied themselves detectives. Love your list :D Now I want to see Samwise.

    1. I do too Jaclyn!! He's one of the best characters ever so I can only hope Ron would love him just as much as we do! I actually cracked myself up when I thought of Spiderman - hopefully Ron wouldn't be annoyed with me for going there and would enjoy him too XD You're right too: Sherlock would be great for the trio as a whole! Thanks sweetie xx I miss Sam too now but the annual Christmas LotR rewatch is underway (starting with The Hobbit) so I'll be seeing him soon ;)

  3. Spider-Man is such a brilliant pick! Maybe he could help ease poor Ron's fear of spiders. And I love your reasoning for going with The Lord of the Rings. It's not easy having a Chosen One as your bestie, but at least maybe Ron would feel better knowing that he wasn't the only one in that situation.

    1. LOL! Thanks Lee, that's what I'm hoping. Poor guy! EXACTLY^^ Sam did such a fantastic job of it, maybe Ron would have felt better knowing that he can still be the hero, even though he's friends with a Chosen One. I mean, Ron IS a hero in his own way but hopefully Sam would help him put his insecurities to rest.
