Top Ten Tuesday #35

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish which features a variety of bookish top ten lists!

Ok. Ok.  So you may have noticed that it is not, in fact, Tuesday. Yup,  I totally spaced on the date yesterday.  In my defence, this past Monday was Thanksgiving Day in Canada, so my whole week is out of whack now. In any case, I had this AWESOME Top Ten Tuesday post lined up for you all, and I didn't want to let it go to waste...so I hope you don't mind me being late to the party ;)

Top Ten Author Duos You'd LOVE To See Write A Book Together

J.K. Rowling and Sarah J. Maas

I.would.die. And that's not an exaggeration. My body would legit cease to function if Rowling and Maas ever got together for a project. I envision a beyond-glorious magical world overflowing with ALL KINDS OF FEELS.  I would die!

Brandon Sanderson and Maggie Stiefvater

I literally got chills thinking of Sanderson's EPIC world-building combined with Stiefvater's atmospheric prose. And both of them shine when it comes to their characters and the ties that bind them together! Yup, this would be another life-ruining mess of feels^^

J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis

What high-fantasy fan hasn't dreamt of what it would be like if Middle-Earth and Narnia collided?! These two famously chatted each other up while they were working on their respective masterpieces, but I can't help but wonder what they could have accomplished working on a joint project!

Arthur Conan Doyle and Ellie Marney

Ellie Marney brought Sherlock Holmes into the 21st Century with her addictive contemporary romance take on the famous detective. I'd love to see what Doyle's skills with mysteries and puzzles could have contributed to the mix if they'd had a chance to work together. Anyone have a TARDIS handy?

Karen Marie Moning and Darynda Jones

These two ladies are THE MASTERS of adult paranormals in my books.  Just the thought of both of them teaming up to bring us a new heroine, a set of high stakes to overcome..not to mention a new paranormal world to explore and conquer.  I can't even think of the potential swoony leading men and romances that would ensue without breaking into a sweat O.O

Laini Taylor and Victoria Schwab

Just let this combination sink in for a moment. Taylor's delicious prose and even more delicious romances combined with Schwab's addictive plotting and insane world-building skills.  The more I think about this pairing the more I NEED it to happen. And not just a trilogy mind you, I want a full series of this brilliance!

Marissa Meyer and Suzanne Collins

Yeah, I'm totally picturing some kind of insane futuristic sci-fi Hunger Games, with cyborgs and Lunars thrown into the mix with humans. And IT SOUNDS AWESOME.  Or even a fast-paced, violent and addictive fairytale re-imagining. I want it all!!!!

Rick Riordan and Catherynne M. Valente

Take Riordan's mythological penchant plus his wry humor and mix it in with Valente's whimsical stories and characters and I really feel like it would make something truly amazing. They both have a youthful yet wise tone that I think would combine perfectly together.

L.M. Montgomery and Tamora Pierce

I grew up with Anne of Green Gables and even though I only familiarized myself with Alanna recently, I can see my younger self loving her just as much and for just as long as I've loved Anne. I'd love to see what these two gifted authors would come up with if they put their heads together!

Garth Nix and Philip Pullman

Nix's Abhorsen series features sort of portals to cross between the world of the living and the realm of the dead.  And we all know that Pullman was a pro with portal worlds in His Dark Materials. I can only imagine what sort of trippy parallel worlds and magical items that these two geniuses would invent...but I NEED it like air!

  8. OMG, these are all so AMAZING! I would give anything -ANYTHING- for the JKR/SJM collaboration especially. Just the thought of it blows my mind- the characters and worlds they would create! I also imagine that there would be lots of heartbreak along the way, if their previous books are any indication. XD
