Harry Potter Moment #109

Harry Potter Moment of the Week

Harry Potter Moment of the Week is a  meme hosted by Leah @ Uncorked Thoughts  and Me @ Lunar Rainbows Reviews. The idea is to share a favorite moment, magical item, character, spell, quote, object from the books, films or J.K.Rowling herself!  How to join up &  upcoming topics here.

Which Books Would You Recommend to Harry?

The Hunger Games - so he could see how things could actually be even worse. I mean, I want to live in the Wizarding World, even if it meant fighting against ol' Voldy. I do not want to live in Panem, like, at all O.O

Throne of Glass - so he could realize that there are things even scarier than Voldemort - seriously, there's some dark and scary shit going on now with Heir of Fire and especially Queen of Shadows. *shudders*

The Way of Kings - to inspire him and to show how a hero can be worse off than he is. Kaladin is one of my favorite heroes of all time but he makes Harry's childhood seem like a walk in the park. Yikes!

Lord of the Rings - because The One Ring is basically a Horcrux and it might give him some ideas/inspiration as to how to retrieve a Horcrux, how to handle it AND how to destroy it. And well, wearing a Horcrux doesn't seem to have a lasting effect - not like wearing The Ring >.<

  1. I like this meme :) I have only read The Hunger Games trilogy from your list. I, too, do not want to live in Panem. I'd be the first one dead if I ever enter the game arena. I swear!

    1. Thanks Dre! Yeah, Panem is NOT a world I'd want to visit, even for a second o_O I'd been dead even if the Games weren't happening (Mockingjay)!

  2. I love these! That is some harsh truth about Hunger Games though. It's much worse in Panem all the way around. At least he gets to enjoy all the creature comforts and some good magic while he's at it. True story about the evils in Throne of Glass as well. Those baddies give me chills! I never thought about the One Ring as a horcrux, but it makes total sense!!

    1. Exactly!! Even with Voldemort and Death Eaters and Dark Magic, The Wizarding World is a constantly magical and whimsical place...whereas Panem is a nightmare. The monsters in the ToG series get more and more terrifying with every new installment o_O And yeah the way Sauron's Ring contains his evil and basically his essence reminds me a lot of Voldemort's Horcruxes!

  3. The Hunger Games is a great recommendation! He does need to see that it could be worse. haha You're totally right, The One Ring basically functions like a horcrux. I think it would be good for Harry to read it, just to remind him that it can get better. He needs to power through and that his friends are his greatest assets!

    1. Yeah, I mean if Hunger Games doesn't give the boy hope, nothing will! Yeah it's like a how to of destroying something evil and succeeding at an impossible task, I think it would have helped him in DH especially!

  6. I've been reading QoS mostly at night, and night + evil things = scared Lee. O-O And if I had to choose between fighting Voldermort and living in Panem, I'd go with Voldemort, for sure!

    1. Gah! I would be just as scared if I read QoS at night O_O Yup, Voldemort is a nightmare, but he's just one man...not the whole world. Panem is too much to handle!

  7. Great choices! I hadn't made the one ring/horcrux connection before but now that I think of it they are quite similar.
