Top Ten Hyped Books That I've Never Read (Yet!)

The Lies of Locke Lamora, Shadow and Bone, ANYTHING by John Green, Poison Study, Shatter Me

Scarlet, The Eye of the World (Wheel of Time), Graceling, Shiver, Splintered

In my defence, I own copies of ALL of these (except for anything by John Green) and I plan to read all of them - hopefully soon! Let me know which ones you think I should start with in the comments :)

  1. Great list, Micheline! Shatter Me made my list, too, and there are a few books on your list I'd like to read, particularly The Lies of Locke Lamora, Scarlet and Shiver. I enjoyed The Fault in Our Stars, but I have no desire to read any of John Green's other work, and I enjoyed Poison Study, too. :)

  2. Oh Splintered and Graceling should be on my list too, but I completely forgot about them! I did consider putting Shadow and Bone on my list, but I opted for other ones. I haven't heard of The Lies of Locke Lamora, but the cover looks really cool!
    Great list, Micheline!

  3. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND POISON STUDY (VALEK FOR LIFE). I really enjoyed Scarlet (although the love triangle in the first book was really meh), Graceling and Splintered! I liked Shadow and Bone, but I got confused by the halfway point, haha. I loved Shatter Me but DNFed the sequel. :( Shiver was a DNF for me also. :(

  4. Shadow and Bone and TFIOS made my list, too, though I think the only book on this list I've read is Graceling. I started The Lies of Locke Lamora once and just wasn't in the right mood for it. I'll have to come back to that someday. Great list!

  5. Oh my goodness, drop everything and read Lies of Locke Lamora. I know you have a fondness for fantasy so I think you'll really love the atmosphere and the characters in it, not to mention the story which involves cons and heists! I also would recommend Shadow and Bone, even though I didn't think the rest of the series was as good.

  6. I've had The Lies of Locke Lamora for ages and have been meaning to read it, but I just haven't yet. Shadow and Bone and Graceling are fantastic! Two of my all-time favorites. I loved Splintered, Poison Study and Shiver, too. Shatter Me was good but not great. I don't like some of the characters at all, so that kind of brings it down for me. I really want to read Scarlet, so many people have been recommending it to me. Great list, I hope you get to read some of these soon.

  7. Well you know which of these I'll be recommending ;) Poison Study, Assassin's Apprentice & Graceling <3

I've also read The Fault in Our Stars, which I was disappointingly underwhelmed by, Splintered and the sequel which I loved the uniqueness of but still haven't picked up book 3 of, and Shatter Me which was okay but again, didn't leave me desperate for the rest of the series.

  8. We have a lot of these in common as still not read. I'm still up for read-a-longs for any of them if we can manage to coordinate our schedules! I hope you can get to some of these soon anyways - Shadow and Bone and TFiOS are great. Splintered is... well, it wasn't for me.

  9. Shadow and Bone, STILL, Micheline? *shakes head* Ah, I'm just teasing. Plus, who am I to talk, I still need to read Sanderson, haha. Graceling is another one of my favorites on this list, and I think you will really enjoy that series. Some great reads to look forward to!

  10. Great list! I also haven't read Graceling and Poison Study though I really want to! I usually tend to read the hyped books once they've died down a bit lol

  11. Locke! Start with Locke! Locke for president! *ahem* :)
No but seriously, you should start with Locke.

Though Scarlet and Graceling are pretty awesome, too! :) Ooh, Jordan. That series is SUCH an undertaking! I'm currently stuck in the middle of book 6. I hope to finish it some day!

  12. The Lies of Locke Lamora and Splintered are both books that I really, really want to read. I'm psyched for our Shiver buddy read!!! Here's hoping that it will help fill the void left by The Raven King release being pushed back. And of course I can't end this comment without putting in a good word for both Poison Study and Shatter Me! XD

  13. YOU NEED TO READ ALL OF THESE RIGHT NOW. Well I can't comment on The Eye of the World because I haven't read it, but the others I LOVE

  14. I'm really looking forward to Shadow and Bone; I got it recently as well! I have all of John Green's books, but I've only read An Abundance of Katherines, which I loved! So, I look forward to reading more of his stuff too! Happy reading! :)

  15. This is a really great list but you're not missing out on much honestly. Splintered wasn't as a good as I thought it would be, amazing plot but horrible love triangles lol Scarlet and Poison Study are amazing though, those I would really recommend :) <3 Benish | Feminist Reflections
