Harry Potter Moment #96

Harry Potter Moment of the Week

Harry Potter Moment of the Week is a  meme hosted by Leah @ Uncorked Thoughts  and Me @ Lunar Rainbows Reviews. The idea is to share a favorite moment, magical item, character, spell, quote, object from the books, films or J.K.Rowling herself!  How to join up &  upcoming topics here.

If you had to use one, which Unforgivable Curse would you use?

Oh gosh.  All of the Unforgivable Curses are simply too, well, unforgivable to use. I don't want to torture anyone but taking away their free will sounds just as bad.  I can see though how, in certain situations, like when Harry used Imperius to break into Gringotts, or when he used Crucio against Bella and Amycus Carrow, that they were a bit more...forgivable.  I'd never ever use Avada Kedavra though, that's for sure.  I guess, when push comes to shove, I'd pick the Imperious Curse, but I'd ONLY use it to like, distract someone, or something bland like that.  Never to control them to do my bidding or anything of the sort!

More on the Imperius Curse:
The Imperius Curse (Imperio) is a tool of the Dark Arts and one of the three Unforgivable Curses. It is one of the most powerful and sinister spells known to wizardkind. When cast successfully, the curse places the victim completely under the caster's control, though a person with exceptional strength of will is capable of resisting it.
The fact that the curse can be defended against makes it unique amongst the Unforgivable Curses. -Source

  1. I'm right there with you. I wouldn't ever want to use any of these curse but the Imperius cursed seemed like the lesser of the three evils, but still extremely dangerous. The world would be better without spells like these.

    1. Exactly^^ especially because you have options, you don't HAVE to control somebody into doing something terrible, you could just use it as a distraction or whatever. You're right about that last bit too^^

  2. I thought along the exact same lines- I'd hope to never find myself in a situation where I would have absolutely no other choice but to use one of these, but if I did, it would be Imperio, just to buy some time to get out of there ASAP. :/

    1. I'd hope I'd never have to use any of the three too Lee but if push comes to shove, I'd try Imperio first just to create a diversion even and escape!

  3. I feel the same! I wouldn't use Avada Kedavra. I would have to justify using Imperius as I wouldn't do anything too bad with it. After seeing what the other two did to Harry and Neville's families, it's hard to consider using either of them.
