Top Ten Tuesday #22

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish which features a variety of bookish top ten lists!

Ten Authors I Really Want to Meet

This week's topic is exciting, because I always say that I have an ultimate top four authors I have to meet before I die, and out of those four, I've already met two BUT I want to meet both of them AGAIN. For reasons. So I'll start off with my top four (including those I have met) and then go from there:

In the top spot, a.k.a. no surprises here:

Was there ever any doubt that the Queen herself would get top billing? She is my idol, my inspiration. Every single time I've seen her speak, or read her words, I've been swept away into something akin to bliss. Her rags to riches story inspired millions of people to believe that all things can be possible and she's given the world the best gift of all: Harry Potter. I want to talk with her about EVERYTHING. Harry Potter of course, but also books in general, british things and whatever else!

Brandon Sanderson

This is the first one out of the Epic Four that I did meet, twice at BEA'13.  He was there signing his two new YA books, Steelheart and The Rithmatist so, obviously, I lined up and waited for ages, two times - because I love the guy that much.  He was super friendly and answered lots of questions but of course, I was too tongue-tied to say anything other than: You're awesome, I hope you keep writing for ever.  To which he replied: Thank you, I actually take two 'awesome tablets' every morning. I'd love to meet him again though and pick his brains.

Sarah J. Maas

And on the the second of my favorite authors that I was lucky enough to meet, almost one year ago now.  Yes I waited in line for over 2 and a half hours but do you know what? I'd do it again in a heartbeat.  I didn't get to chat much at all with her, since they were doing their best for her to be able to meet everyone who waited in line, so meeting her again would be a dream for me.  I did manage to spy her again waiting in line at Starbucks, but I tried to tone down my inner fangirl so she didn't think I was stalking her. What? I wasn't! I swear!

Maggie Stiefvater

Rounding out my top four is this lady, who I actually missed my first time out to BEA...but back then, I hadn't read anything by her yet (I was relatively late to the party) but it will forever be one of my biggest regrets. Admittedly, I haven't read all the books she's written, but I own most of them and I WILL read them all. Basically I want to meet her so she can dish about Rowan, talk ships (R+A MUST SAIL) and beg her not to kill Gansey because that might just kill me O.O I WILL see you at BEA this year Miss Stiefvater!

And now on to the rest of the authors I'd most want to meet:

With Suzanne Collins, I'd want to know what happened after the end of the Hunger Games trilogy - I want ALL the details, not just with Katniss and Peeta but EVERYONE.  With Miss Taylor, I'd want to know how in the hell she comes up with such delicious prose. I just want to know what it's like in that brilliant mind of hers.

Victoria Schwab, Karen Marie Moning

Schwab I've actually met at BEA'13 but I hadn't read anything by her at that point. She was signing Vicious (which was my first read by her and made me a fan for life). Now that I've read more of her books, I want to meet her again because she's incredible, it's just that simple. Plus she lives in Scotland, so we could meet up over there and hang out sight-seeing while I pick her brains. And Miss Moning has to dish how she came up with the creature that is Barrons O.O

 Marissa Meyer, Darynda Jones

Meyer gets points for creativity meshing with classic fairytales. HOW did you come up with it all, I want to ask.  And also, what happens in Winter?!  Jones just seems like she'd be a blast to hang out with, if her MC Charley is any indication, I'd bust a gut laughing with this fine lady.

Which authors do you wish you could meet?

  1. I love how you chose Maas she seems amazing and a really great person. :) Great list

  2. I'm so jealous that you've met Sarah J Maas AND VE Schwab! They are both on my list this week. x

  3. I am SO willing to wait 2 1/2 hours to meet Sarah J. Maas because signings here take more than 9 hours to wait! </3 And yes to asking Suzanne about ALL the Hunger Games people! And haha, I would totally shamelessly ask for Winter spoilers. ;)

  4. I can't believe I left Maggie Stiefvater, Laini Taylor and JK Rowling off of my list! I'd love to meet Sarah J Maas. Suzanne Colling is really nice, btw. I met her right before Catching Fire came out. Great list, I hoep you get to meet them all someday!

  5. I want to meet Maggie too!!! So much!! She's just too smart, and talking to her will probably cause my head to explode, but I'm okay with that. Man I just don't know how I feel about that R + A thing!! I don't see how they go together.....

  6. Great list. I don't know what I would say if I ever met JK Rowling. I'm sure so many people fangirl/fanboy over her. But how cool would it be there meet her?

  7. J.K Rowling for sure xD I think I have seen her in everyone lists by now. I would probably ask the same questions to Suzanne Collins as well. Great list overall, I hope your dream does come true<3 Benish | Feminist Reflections

  8. Nice list of authors... I haven't read books by many of the authors you've listed in your post. I need to expand my reading repertoire.

  9. The QUEEN! J.K. Rowling, I'm not surprised at all ;) I haven't read any Sarah J. Maas but her new book is sitting on my shelf just itching to be read. (I feel like if I'm going to meet an author, I should have read at least one of their books.) This is a great list! AND you've reminded me that Laini Taylor has beautiful prose and that I should finish that trilogy.

Thanks for stopping by my TTT.

  10. I met Brandon Sanderson last year at Balticon and I totally agree, he's the coolest, nicest guy! At the signing booth after he signed my books, he asked if I had any questions for him and it was just so unexpected that I froze like a deer in the headlights, lol! It was a small con though, so I actually got to chat with him for a while after the signing session in the dealer's haul. Such a stand up guy :)

  11. Some of the authors I love and have been lucky to meet are Marissa, Laini, Sarah Dessen and Lauren Oliver (twice). Authors I'd love to meet include J.K. Rowling, Richelle Mead, Meg Cabot (who I think would be hilarious), Victoria Schwab, Robin LaFevers, and Megan Whalen Turner.

  12. Wow, we have a lot in common. I'm so jealous that you got to meet Sarah J Maas, she was on my list. I can't see her when she's in the UK this time, but I'm hoping she'll be back to promote Queen of Shadows! Maggie Stiefvater, JK Rowling and Suzanne Collins were also on my list.

  13. Maggie Stiefvater definitely tops my list for the same reasons: to tell her how much I love R+A, and to beg, plead, and beseech her not to kill my beloved Gansey. Because I'll never, ever, ever, recover from that! Amazing list, Micheline! :D

  14. J.K Rowling, what a surprise ;) I think I would just listen to hear inspirational words, because I would be too star struck to speak, haha.
I would love to meet Sarah J. Maas and to tell her that I sometimes think about Celaena when I need some extra courage.
Victoria Schwab to fangirl over A darker shade of magic!

  15. I'm pretty sure I would just start to weep if I ever came into contact with Jo... so it would be hard to talk to her, but just to be in her presence, haha!

I LOVE comments & do my best to return every one a.s.a.p. ♥
