Top Ten Tuesday #17

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish which features a variety of bookish top ten lists!

Hi everyone! If this week's topic has taught me anything, it's that I have a ridiculous amount of unfinished series on the go, that I really should work on finishing >.<  This was an especially difficult topic for me to do, and I struggled to make it to 10.  As it is, I cheated profusely throughout, some answers have two people in them (or more), so let's get started:

Top Ten(-ish) Characters I'd Like to Check In With

  • Samwise Gamgee, The Lord of the Rings - If anyone thinks he isn't the hero of LotR, we can't be friends. I have nothing but love for that little guy.  And since I'm cheating, while I'm in Middle-Earth, might as well check up on Aragorn, Legolas, Merry and Pippin too! So.Much.Love.

  • Karou, Daughter of Smoke & Bone - Karou was very beloved character of mine in DoS&B. I know most people prefered Zuzana or even Liraz but to me, it was always Karou.  Leaving her was very bittersweet and I'd sort of need to know how she's doing now.
  • Vin +Eland, Mistborn - Oh my beloved Vin, I know I shouldn't, but I couldn't help putting her on this list.  Let me live in my denial guys! *sobs*
  • Katniss + Peeta, The Hunger Games - Mockingjay left me with one of THE biggest book hangovers in history, and even though it ended...ok...I still worry about these two. A lot. I just have so much love for them and dammit I wish it'd all be easier for them :*(

  • Lyra Belacqua, His Dark Materials - I'd love to know what kind of an adult Lyra became, she was such a fascinating character as a kid... I have a hard time letting her go.
  • Anne Shirley, Anne of Green Gables - Granted, we pretty much get to see Anne's entire lifespan throughout the series, and sure, they got a lot less interesting for me as they went on...but when you spend that amount of time with a character, it seems wrong to not have them in your life after that.

  • Bramblestar, The Warriors - Easily the lengthiest series I've ever read, it ended with Bramblestar becoming the leader of the clan after A TON of trials and ordeals.  I know he's finally ok, but I miss him dammit. *cries*
  • Harry Potter, Harry Potter - Obviously.  My hero of heroes, and one that I STILL haven't been able to learn to live without.  Cut to more cheating here, since I also NEED to check in with Hermione, Ron, Ginny, Luna, Neville, McGonagall, and anyone else that made it out alive O.O

  1. Awesome picks! I JUST read LotR 1, like seriously, half a minute ago :D I totally agree on harry but I think he's okay, more worried over Katniss and Peeta, that one is for sure. :D I am more curious about the rest, not so much worried. :)

  2. Great list! Harry made my list, too, and I think Samwise Gamgee is a wonderful choice - he's certainly my hero of LotR!

  3. I haven't read the last Daughter of Smoke and Bone book. I just haven't had a chance, but I also don't want to say goodbye. I wouldn't mind checking in on Gale from The Hunger Games. I wonder what he went on to do. Of course, Harry Potter. Great list!

  6. Totally agree on Samwise Anne Shirley, and the Harry Potter crew. They were all such great character and it'd be nice to know what happened to them all.

  7. My daughter would love that you included Bramblestar - there's probably another million books coming out in that series, so maybe you'll get to see what happens with him after all. :-)

  8. I'm so on board. Lyra, Karou, all the Harry crew. There was so much possibility at the end of these books! Katniss and Peeta, too, although I still have my gripes with that. ;P I didn't realize so many people prefer others to Karou. I did love Zuzanna and Liraz, but Karou is so fierce and wonderful.

  9. Vin and Elend! *sobs* And yay for Sam...and awesome that you included Lyra too. The ending was so bittersweet for me, but now that I think of it I wonder what she'd be like as an adult after everything she had experienced...

    Great list! My TTT

  11. Katniss + Peeta would be a great couple to check in on, considering her feelings for him that were all over the place in the books. I'd always felt she ended up with him out of necessity, and it would be interesting to see if those feelings ever got resolved or if they were always a sore point between them!

  12. I would love more Katniss and Peeta! I know there was an epilogue in Mockingjay, but I'm constantly thinking about them too. If their kids are okay, if they're okay... <3

  13. Oh such good choices Micheline! I would love to catch up with our favorites from Middle Earth, as well as Katniss and Peeta! I always seem to want more even after the stories are over- like authors should give us short stories or novellas every so many years just so we can check in!

  14. Wow! Good choices. I agree with all of them except I never read The Warriors series, so I don't know who Bramblestar is. This was a fun sounding Top 10 Tuesday. I would like to check in with so many book characters, especially Lyra and Harry.

  15. JKR totally, totally needs to gives us an update on Harry, his family, and of course, his friends and their families! I felt much the same as you did after finishing Mockingjay; although it was the end, I still felt like there was still so much more to that story, but no more book left to tell it, lol.

  16. Harry Potter for sure haha!! But I think for me it would be like Four from Divergent. I want to know that he has a good life and a family perhaps, who knows. :P

  17. Totally on the LotR characters! I always felt that there was so much more to their stories. I would love to read about Gondor after Aragorn's return, and the adventures of his children. And Legolas - did he ever find anyone (besides Gimli)? Did he produce an heir for Greenwood? What happened to his father? What are Sam's children like now? SO MUCH POTENTIAL!!
