Harry Potter MotW #87

Harry Potter Moment of the Week

Harry Potter Moment of the Week is a meme hosted by Leah @ Uncorked Thoughts  & Me @ Lunar Rainbows Reviews. The idea is to share a favorite moment, magical item, character, spell, quote, object from the books, films or J.K.Rowling herself!  How to join &  upcoming topics here.

Character I Wish I'd Invented

Without a doubt, I wish I had invented Harry Potter, the boy who lived himself.  It blows my mind how underappreciated Harry is as a character, in his own series no less, because for me, Harry was always the standout character.  He is my hero of heroes, my inspiration and my absolute, all-time favorite fictional character of life. People say that Hermione would have been a better hero because of her wit and the fact that she's much less impulsive than Harry  - and don't get me wrong, I adore Hermione as well, but those people^^ forget that Harry was better than Hermione in DADA and that Hermione not only refused to believe that Draco was a Death-Eater, she also refused to believe in the Deathly Hallows, period. So I'm sorry but my money's on Harry - her's the only one who could have ever defeated the Dark Lord and saved the Wizarding World.

  1. It's beyond impressive that the series exists! The world, the characters... just everything about HP :D I am so jealous in a way because there may well never be anyone else who can do such a thing! :D

  2. It's so true. Most the time when I ask someone who their favorite character is in the Harry Potter Series, I never hear them say Harry. It's always someone else. BUT you're right he is the only one that could have saved the wizarding world. I mean, he probably would have been a lot worse off without his friends, but ultimately he's the one with the capacity to believe in the unexpected and to fulfill the prophecy in the end. He would have been an excellent character to create!

  4. Who better to pick for this topic than the namesake of the series himself?! As much as I love Hermione, too, I can't imagine anyone but Harry as protagonist here. That he grew into the man he did despite so many obstacles (being orphaned as a baby, growing up with those horrible Dursleys, the burden alone of being "The Boy Who Lived," etc.) is just awe-inspiring. ❤

    1. EXACTLY. And don't get me wrong, I adore Hermione too, and without her, Harry would have been done for a ton of times, but to me he's still the ONLY one that could have accomplished what he did. And the fact that he did so despite all the obstacles as you said is simply amazing ♥

  5. YES! RIGHT?! I can never understand how Harry isn't everyone's favourite character. Now that's not a slight about any of Jo's other characters OF COURSE because they're all amazing as well. But for me, Harry has always been the standout, my hero <3

    1. THANK YOU AYLEE, I LOVE YOU for this comment^^ I just don't get how overlooked Harry ALWAYS seems to be! Like hello, he's THE hero, and time after time he's proved that he was indeed the only person suited for the task at hand. He will forever be my hero too ♥

  6. I was just talking to Zane about this last week...about how somehow the main character is hardly ever the one people list as their favorite. We also discussed how underappreciated Harry is. I love all the points you made!

  7. Harry might have had a few annoying moments, but I have to agree with you, the book wouldn't have been the same without Harry! He was the right person to defeat Voldemort :)
