Stacking the Shelves *44*

Stacking the Shelves

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature hosted by Tynga's Reviews showcasing new books we've gotten a hold of (bought/given/gifted/trade/for review).

Hi hi!  I hope everyone's doing well post-Holiday madness! I've been super busy with work, so my reading has been suffering.  The blog's back to regular features and all that... but reviews have been slow going.  Anyway, this is my follow up holiday StS post, since my lovely mom got me Amazon gift cards for Christmas... bless her!  The wait for the books to arrive is finally over (excluding pre-orders) so let's get to the goodies:

*My prrrrecioussss*

Here's what was in that stack, in no particular order:

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater (The Raven Cycle #1) hardback, The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater (The Raven Cycle #2) hardback, Every Breath by Ellie Marney (Every #1) hardback

After I was gifted the gorgeous hardback of Blue Lily, Lily Blue over the holidays (Thanks again Lee ♥) I obviously had to upgrade my set to match!  And gift cards are the perfect opportunity to do some upgrading imo ;)  Same goes for Every Breath, I loved that book way too much just to have an eARC of it hehe.

The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan (The Heroes of Olympus #1), Scarlet by A.G. Gaughen (Scarlet Series #1), The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan (The Wheel of Time #1)

It's been too long since I hung out with some Gods, considering my love of all things mythological, so I figured it was high time I start the Heroes of Olympus series. I find these books make the perfect fun, light read!  At this point, I might be the last blogger alive not raving madly about Scarlet, so clearly I had to fix that. And given how I was on such an epic fantasy kick in 2014, I decided that 2015 would be perfect to start in on the Wheel of Time series - it's only been recommended to me like, a million times so far...

Splintered by A.G. Howard (Splintered #1), The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith (Cormoran Strike #1) & Dealing with Dragons by Patricia C. Wrede (Enchanted Forest Chronicles #1)

Again, I think I'm the only person who hasn't read Splintered - and honestly, it's been on my Amazon wishlist for like 2 years, so that one was a no-brainer.  Even worst, I call myself the ultimate JKR fangirl, but I have yet to read any of her post-Harry works *gasp* - the horror!  I wanted to pick up The Casual Vacancy too but it was out of stock. I can't wait to sink my teeth into the Cormoran Strike series. And finally, I think Dealing with Dragons is pretty self-explanatory: Dragons! Enchanted Forest! Yes please!

Oh and since you guys seemed to enjoy the pictures my last few StS posts, I decided to add a shot of my complete Holiday stack this year:

*BRB, drowning in love, books and ALL the awesome*

That's it for me this week guys :D
Don't forget to link me up to your hauls!!

  1. You've got an awesome haul! I didn't get many books this weeks because I bought so many the previous ones with all the sales and deals, so I'm trying to save some more money to buy more books lol.
    Hope you enjoy your books!

    My STS:

  2. WOW. Your mom knows you well. Gift cards are always a perfect gift. I hope you love all your new books.

Also Cuckoo's Calling was amazing! I hope you enjoy all your books :)

  4. Yes, The Raven Cycle. I approve. You aren't alone-I still haven't read Scarlet either! Everyone has been recommending it but I keep dragging my feet and I don't know why. Splintered is pretty good, I hope you like it!

  5. Seeing lots of gorgeous babies here, Micheline! The Lost Heroes! The Heroes of Olympus series isn't as amazing as PJO, but still pretty worth reading. :) I really enjoyed Scarlet as well, and I'm waiting for the final book in the trilogy to come out! Splintered was brilliant, but someone spoiled me about the trilogy ending and I'm DREADING reading it. :(

Anyway, happy reading! Hope you had a good holiday vacation. ^_^

    Aimee @ Deadly Darlings

  6. Ha! Yay for drowning in books!! I'm on the final book in the WoT series - it's a long one, but definitely good (just be prepared for Jordan's penchant for excessive descriptions and random POVs :-).

I really enjoyed Splintered - haven't read any of the others on the list, but lots of them are on my wishlist!!

Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction

  7. I hope work's not being too tough on you, Micheline! I've taken up a bunch of shifts in the past week (and this week as well) so my reading has been suffering badly. Which means total lack of reviews. BUT I did read a load of books in the last dying days of 2014 and I haven't released those reviews to the world hahah

LOOK AT THOSE PRETTY STIEFVATER HARDBACKS <3 And YESSSS SCARLET! I saw Nikki raving on and on about them on twitter and I ordered it as well. Now I just need some time to read it. AND YES SPLINTERED. I'm literally split with this series but I definitely liked book one!

  8. Very nice holiday stack - everyone got some good gifts with their gift cards this year, it seems! And I swear this will finally be the year I start Maggie Stiefvater's Raven Cycle series. I already put it on my reading challenge goals, so no going back! Anyway, I hope you enjoy all your books! :)

  9. ALL THE PRETTIES!! So much goodness here :) I really think you'll love A Cuckoo's Calling even if it's contemporary. Jo's writing and characterization is still there in true form! And I think I liked the sequel even more. I hope you get more time to read soon! <3

  10. The Raven Cycle books look so pretty all together! ❤ You are not alone in not having read Splintered- I need to read it, too. Amazing haul!!! :D

  11. I haven't read Splintered yet either, but I recently picked up a copy with a Christmas giftcard as well! I've heard great things about it and look forward to reading your thoughts on it :)

  12. Your holiday haul is amazing!!! I hope you enjoy them all. Very interested to hear what you think of Splintered, I really want to read that series. Every Breath is so amazing, so is the sequel. I'm so happy that Aussie titles are doing amazingly well overseas!! Can't wait for book three *dance*

I have to buy the hardback of Blue Lily, Lily Blue when it's available here :D We won't get it for another few weeks I think *sad* I don't know why Bloomsbury Sydney didn't release our edition with everyone else's.

I LOVE comments & do my best to return every one a.s.a.p. ♥
This blog is an award-free zone. I appreciate the thought but I can't invest the time needed.
