Stacking the Shelves *43*

Stacking the Shelves

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature hosted by Tynga's Reviews showcasing new books we've gotten a hold of (bought/given/gifted/trade/for review).

Helllloooo 2015!  I hope everyone had a fabulous holiday season and that you all rang in the new year in style - or you know, snuggled up with a good book ;) Personally, I kicked off the new year with some much deserved shopping ~ which was followed up by taking one last trip to Middle-Earth, to see The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies. SO.GOOD.  I was one of those people who wasn't sure if the books should have been split in three films, but after seeing them all, I wouldn't have it any other way.  I adore Martin Freeman as Bilbo and just seeing more Elves, Wizards, Dwarves and Dragons are totally worth it to me ♥

This is my first official StS post containing my Holiday loot!  I always end up with two Xmas posts (at least) since my mom is always good for Amazon gift cards (woot!)...but then, we have to wait for the books to arrive.  So - stay tuned next week for those goodies.  Today, I'm sharing all the AMAZING bookish presents I got from friends, bloggers and all around awesome peeps:

Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater (The Raven Cycle #3) -Thanks Lee! A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness Thanks Aylee!  The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski (The Winner's Trilogy #1) Thanks Leah! I love you ladies to the moon and back ♥ And not just because you know me so well ;)

I also got Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, thanks to Leah! (again, hihi) and my cousin luckily gifted me the next books: Dragonfly in Amber & Voyager - so thanks Anne!

*glee*

I also was lucky enough to get some bookish (and non-bookish) gifts such as an amazing Harry Potter tote bag, gorgeous magnetic bookmarks, winter socks, candy canes, chocolate and lots of lovely xmas cards so thanks to Aylee, Ula, Reanna and Nikki XOXOX

I stuck with pictures of the bookish gifts - mainly because the socks have been worn and thoroughly enjoyed...and are currently in the wash.  And the candy and chocolates seem to have *ahem* disappeared -.-

I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday Season ♥
Please link me up to your haul lovelies!

  1. Oh I love that HP tote! That is so amazing!!!!! I would use that all the time, hahaha. I was one of those skeptics about The Hobbit series and I actually put off watching them until this past year. After watching the first, I immediately rented the second, and then went and saw Five Armies in theaters a day or two after it came out. And then of course I had to have a LOTR marathon, to which I sobbed at the end of RoTK, probably because it was all truly over. I agree- Martin Freeman was a perfect Bilbo!

I STILL haven't read The Winner's Curse! I am hoping to finally get to it soon! I also really want to read the Outlander books at some point soon!

It looks like you had a fab holiday Micheline and here's to 2015! :D

  3. So many prettifuls in your haul! ❤ I'm especially in love with your HP tote bag! I definitely want to read Dragonfly in Amber this year; I'm excited to see what you think of Outlander- I absolutely LOVE the TV series! And, of course, I can't wait for you to read BLLB. :D Happy reading, Micheline!

  4. It's good to hear someone else fangirling over the last Hobbit movie. I've only heard people complain about it and I'm just SO in love with them. I love the HP tote bag :D Happy reading!

  5. Hope you had a happy holiday season and a happy new year :D
I really want to start the Outlander series soon, but its like the Game of Thrones in the sense that I really want to read it but the size of the books make me afraid to.
I loved the Winner's Curse! It was one of my favorite books of 2014. When reading it, though, I was a little bit surprised about how much the love story is focused on, but I didn't care because it was the romance I loved the most!
I hope you like all of your new books, especially The Winner's Curse :D

  6. I'm so jealous that you have A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness. I've been dying to read from him, and I ordered his book More Than This just because of all the hype around his writing. I really want to read more from him and I might just buy that as my next book!

  7. Awesome haul! The Winner's Curse sounds really good. I've been meaning to start the Outlander series because I've been hearing that it's really amazing and the show as well! I hope you enjoy your books.

  8. That's a nice haul! I hope you enjoy The Winner's Curse! I finished book 2, The Winner's Curse one or two weeks ago and it was good too. Hopefully, you'll enjoy them both. The writing is very pretty. Oh, I want to read A Monster Calls! Heard so many things about it!

    Happy Sunday!

  11. Great stack of books this week. Some really nice goodies in there - one of these days I'll get on Maggie Stiefvater's Raven Cycle series :P And is that a new cover for The Winner's Curse? It's less, ah, pink than I remember. It's pretty though! And I enjoyed it enough to want to pick up the next book coming out.

  13. Happy New Year, lovely! : )

What lovely bookish gifts! I so love the Outlander series (though I have yet to read past book 2) and desperately want to get in the Winner's Trilogy. The hype and buzz around that series is making me anxious.

I found myself really enjoying The Hobbit in three movies, too! I know they were just extending the cash flow of the dynasty but I still really, really enjoyed it. My boyfriend and brother in law and I are going to marathon all six movies once they're available on DVD/Blu-Ray. It's something like 18 hours of Tolkien. Can't wait! : )

  14. AW LOOK AT ALL THOSE BOOKS! BLUE LILY WOOOHOOO And you've got the first three Outlanders?! I need to sit down and actually read the first one. I've had it for a while but it was the wrong time for me. Hopefully I can get into it the second time round. And I'm super glad you enjoyed the Hobbit movie! I've been meaning to see it but I've had no time which sucks. SOON though!

  15. OMG the Elves were like frickin ninjas when they leapt over the dwarves. King thranduil is so yummy, I want him!

I still need to read Blue Lily, maybe sometime this year. Happy 2015!

  16. Yay what a wonderful haul! Yay Outlander! :) I also saw the last Hobbit movie around Christmas and I did enjoy it! I do feel like they could've maybe just done two movies. The battle seemed reaaally long. I kind of want to reread the book to remember it. :)

  19. I saw The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies too over the holidays and just LOVED it. I was with you on not being sure about stretching it out that much, but I thoroughly enjoyed them all especially the ending. The people I went with were thrown off and pretty emotional but I thought it was great.
