Waiting on Wednesday *98*

Waiting on Wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine in which we spotlight an upcoming book release we're especially looking forward to!

Here's my pick this week:

The Orphan Queen by Jodi Meadows
The Orphan Queen #1
Expected Pub Date: March 10th 2015 by Katherine Tegen

Wilhelmina has a hundred identities.
She is a princess. When the Indigo Kingdom conquered her homeland, Wilhelmina and other orphaned children of nobility were taken to Skyvale, the Indigo Kingdom’s capital. Ten years later, they are the Ospreys, experts at stealth and theft. With them, Wilhelmina means to take back her throne.

She is a spy. Wil and her best friend, Melanie, infiltrate Skyvale Palace to study their foes. They assume the identities of nobles from a wraith-fallen kingdom, but enemies fill the palace, and Melanie’s behavior grows suspicious. With Osprey missions becoming increasingly dangerous and their leader more unstable, Wil can’t trust anyone.

She is a threat. Wraith is the toxic by-product of magic, and for a century using magic has been forbidden. Still the wraith pours across the continent, reshaping the land and animals into fresh horrors. Soon it will reach the Indigo Kingdom. Wilhelmina’s magic might be the key to stopping the wraith, but if the vigilante Black Knife discovers Wil’s magic, she will vanish like all the others.
There is absolutely nothing about this book that doesn't appeal to me. Magic? Check. Wraiths? Check. A Spy/Princess? Check and check! Even the name of the kingdom in this world is brilliant: Indigo Kingdom. I love it! I haven't read anything by Jodi Meadows yet but her Newsoul Series has been on my TBR shelf since the first book came out. I can definitely say the same for this one ^^ The best part about The Orphan Queen (for me) is that this pretty releases the day of my birthday, so all the more reason to get excited :D

Are you as pumped about The Orphan Queen as I am?
Let me know when you link me up below.

  10. AWWW YAY! My birthday is on publication day as well! (Ensnared, in fact, and seeing as that's one of my most anticipated reads for next year, it's a fantastic present). I totally got sucked into the EW sampler of this one and while I said that I wouldn't read it, I caved and from what I can see, it's an amazing one! NEXT YEAR NEEDS TO COME NOW. We need, no, we deserve some good high fantasy!
