The TBR Book Tag

Happy Friday everyone :) I was recently tagged by the lovely ladies at Readers in Wonderland to do the To-Be-Read (TBR) book tag post. Yay for more bookish tag fun!!  Considering I've been dragging my feet with posting more personal content on the blog, these have worked out perfectly for me!  Keep 'em coming ;) I do hope that my readers are enjoying these as much as I am though hehe

How do you keep track of your TBR Pile?

Well that depends if we're talking books to read that I already own -or- books to-be-read that I don't own yet. The TBR books that I do own now have their own bookcase now, it was unavoidable. >.< The rest get sorted through my various shelves on Goodreads (wishlist, to-be-released, to-read, etc...)

Is your TBR Pile mostly print or ebooks?

It's probably more print books now because of the two glorious years where I went to BEA. If not for that, things would probably be closer to 50/50.

How do you determine which book from your TBR to read next?

I'm a huge mood-reader, so reading on any kind of a schedule equals reading slumps for this girl.  I always have a pile of like 5-6 books on my bedside table that I know I want to read soon-ish, but other than that, I just go by whatever tickles my fancy.

What's been on your TBR the longest?

Well according to Goodreads, that honor goes to a few books actually - all added on the same date: The Count of Monte Cristo, The Mists of Avalon, Eragon and The DaVinci Code.

A book you recently added to your TBR

Well my shiny new hardback of Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas ♥ of course. Full disclosure: I got so excited when it was available for pre-order (even though I had a autographed, print arc) that I ordered it not once, but twice! Luckily I caught myself before the book came out and cancelled one of my pre-orders xD I'm planning on re-reading it soon so it totally counts as a TBR pick.

A book that's on your TBR strictly because of it's beautiful cover? much as I wish there wasn't, there is. Off the top of my head probably Illusions of Fate by Kiersten White though I'm sure there are others...

A book on your TBR that you never plan on reading

The Kingdom of Little Wounds by Susann Cokal.  I've heard some truly odd things about this one. For real o.O  And as much as I'm kind of curious I don't think I'll take the chance.

An unpublished book on your TBR that you're excited for

That would be Skybreaker, the upcoming 3rd book in Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archive Series. It doesn't have a cover yet so I don't have any prettiness to show you guys but since I just finished book 2 in the series, I added this one to my wishlist straight after.

Oh, and of course Throne of Glass # 4 by Sarah J. Maas - just thinking about those books gives me all the feelings.

A book on your TBR that basically everyone has read but you

Oh gosh, sometimes it seems like there are so many of these. The first ones that come to mind are Splintered by A.G. Howard and Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi

A book on your TBR that everyone recommends to you

Definitely The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch but I own a copy now so that issue should resolve itself soon. (I promise!)

A book on your TBR that you're dying to read

The Stolen Songbird by Danielle L. Jensen (a recent acquisition - YAY me) & Zodiac by Romina Russell

How many books on your Goodreads TBR shelf?

After multiple shelf cleanings on Goodreads my total stands at 609...and my greatest fear is that I will not be able to read all of them - PLUS the ones I'll be adding to that total - before I die.

Tag some people

Anyone and EVERYONE who likes doing these tag posts! I LOVE reading everyone's answers :D

  1. These bookish tags are so much fun; I really love reading these kinds of posts! I am in about the same boat as you with the GR TBR shelf. To completely get through it (and I recklessly keep adding to it), I'd need either A) a Time-Turner or B) immortality. XD

    1. Yay! I really enjoy these too, it's fun to learn different things about blogger-friends! The reality of my GR TBR shelf gives me serious anxiety. It's a problem. Oh, and you forgot C) a TARDIS ;-D

  2. Ohhh Eragon is so good and I also love The Mists of Avalon. Heir of Fire was sooo amazing! Just so much love! And hopefully you can make time for Splintered soon because that is another awesome one. Great post!

Teresa @ Readers Live A Thousand Lives

    1. I SO NEED to read those books. It's getting ridiculous! And YES ALL THE LOVE for HoF ♥ And yeah Splintered is definitely a must (soon!), I feel like I missed the boat there >.< Thanks Teresa and thanks for stopping by! x

  3. Michelle, I may sound like a parrot here Splintered! It's quite good (love triangle aside!) I totally had a giggle when I read about you preordering HoF twice! That nearly happened to me with Mara Dyer until I realised just before I pressed the button *phew*. I'm ashamed to say that whilst HoF has sat on my TBR, staring at me for 2 months now, I've yet to touch it. I will soon. PROMISE! x

    Jess @ My Reading Dress

    1. hahah I know...I know *cringe* it's a problem. I'm shamelessly obsessed when in comes to HoF so I'll just take my chances at sounding like a parrot as well....READ HoF! And yes: soon!! ;-)

  4. I wish I had the room to make a TBR pile bookshelf, that would be so handy! Although.. it would definitely show I have a book buy problem, now I can hide it a little, haha. *Mood reader high five* Heir of fire <3 This is one of the series that is tempting me to buy another set, those hardcovers are gorgeous. The lies of Locke Lamore is high on my list, I hope to tackle it soon! (but it's massive :o)

    1. hahaha yeah it does nothing to help me NOT look like a book-addict when I have visitors. >.< *Mood reader high five* My love for HoF knows no bounds, I have arcs of all three books in the series + hardbacks (including the prequel novella bindup... which I also owned as separate ebooks) LOL Oh and I'm aiming to get to The Lies of Locke Lamora soon too, hopefully we'll read them around the same time and compare notes! xx

  5. We seem to have very similar tbrs XD The only difference is you haven't read Splintered or Under the Never Sky and YOU NEED TO

  6. I love doing and reading these kinds of posts. They're just so much fun!
So many awesome gifs!! I loved the Sam one, but I could just be biased because I am obsessed with Supernatural.
I'm a mood reader as well, I just can't read on a schedule. It also puts me in a reading slump. This is why I always get nervous when I'm sent/approved for a review copy of a book.

    1. Kimberly I am 1000% obsessed with Supernatural too :D

Awesome, glad to hear it :) Oh and same here for review copies: I start out with the best of intentions, as the relase date approaches I always think I'll make it on time...and then I don't. My mood to read a certain book refuses to match up with it's release date sometimes. D'oh!

  7. Thanks for doing the tag :D I agree with Bec, we definitely have some similar books to be read! I'm also really excited for Stolen Songbird, everyone raves about it.

  8. I am a big mood reader as well! Haha, I got so much crap from my husband when I bought the Heir of Fire hardcover. He's like, you have a signed arc. And you've read it. And i"m like, uhh yeah and now I need the finished copy because it's beautiful and i need to match the series on my shelf. He did not understand. So I sneakily got it and put it in my bookcase. haha. And your fear? MINE TOO. I have so so so many books on my to read shelf on GR and what if I never get to read all of them?! And there's so many books that keep coming out that sound amazing. It's a legit fear. And I've been so busy recently that I've read like ONE book this month. Tragic. Ugh.

I LOVE comments & do my best to return every one a.s.a.p. ♥
