Harry Potter Moment of the Week is a meme hosted over at Uncorked Thoughts. The idea is to share a favorite moment, magical item, character, spell, quote, object from the books, films or J.K.Rowling herself! Upcoming topics & how to join here.

  Best Harry Potter Memory

*Hey all, just a heads up I'll be late visiting everyone's posts today - as you're reading this I'll be gearing up for the first day at BEA so I'll catch up when I get back!*

This week is a free week, which means we get to chose the topic.  Since I missed a few good ones before discovering this meme, I went through the old ones & picked my best Harry Potter memory.  Admittedly this is a bit of an odd one but strangely enough it stands out in my mind as one of my favorite memories of reading the series for the first time, so bear with me:  I've mentioned before that by the time I got into the series for real, books 1-5 were already out (psht,I know right?!). When I finally made it to Half Blood Prince, Deathly Hallows had just coming out. I remember finishing HBP around 8:15 pm and rushing - seriously I drove like a madwoman - to my local bookstore (which closed at 9pm) so I could dive into DH straight away. The second I got home, I started reading and read straight through my bf going to bed and everything.  At some point in the wee hours of the night, all alone in my dark living room, I got to the part where Voldemort reveals he can fly.  Without a broom or anything.  And remember this wasn't like in the films where ALL the Death Eaters seem to have this ability. No, this was big and it was scary:

Looking back now, I can laugh about it but for real that image^^ popped into my head and I literally chucked the book and headed straight to bed - without looking out of any of my darkened windows, cause you know...I might have spotted a pair of red eyes staring through O.O  It goes to show how much the story had a hold on me by that time! LOL!

  1. I hope you had an awesome first day at BEA! :D I always think of myself as late to the HP party. I didn't start reading the books until after seeing the Sorcerer's Stone movie; by then Goblet of Fire had already been released. Flying Voldemort was seriously creepy; I don't blame you at all for not peeking out the windows late at night after reading that!

  2. Bahaha that's hilarious!! What a creepy image that is! But it's so great that you have such a vibrant memory of the first time you read that scene and rushing out to the store and everything because I'm the same way - I remember my everything about my first experience reading HP. I guess it must be very meaningful to us :) And even if we can never again experience those first moments, at least we can relive them in our memories!

I LOVE comments & do my best to return every one a.s.a.p. ♥
