Harry Potter MotW #42

Harry Potter Moment of the Week

Harry Potter Moment of the Week is a meme hosted over at Uncorked Thoughts. The idea is to share a favorite moment, magical item, character, spell, quote, object from the books, films or J.K.Rowling herself! Upcoming topics & how to join here.

  Best 'Harry' Moment

Well, most of you know that I consider myself one of the biggest Harry Potter fans out there.  He is my all-time favorite hero and I have all the feels for him and everything he did, felt and thought.  That being said, it could be quite the challenge for someone like me to narrow down my favorite 'Harry' moment.  I mean, there are oh-so-many moments to choose from!  The boy does something heroic and selfless at every turn.  Despite his penchant for heroics, there is always one moment that stands out for me above all others:

The Forest Again

I include every moment leading up to this chapter as well - like when the trio make it to Shell Cottage with poor Dobby *sobs* and Harry comes to understand Dumbledore's plan...and then everything that happens after that leading him to Snape's memories in the Pensieve.  All of this comes to a head when Harry exits the Pensieve alone in Dumbledore's office.  That for me is the moment when Harry realizes his full potential, accepts his tragic fate and heads out to do what no one else could have done.  The journey to the forest is unbelievably emotional for me every.single.time. I read it and it remains the most poignant moment in the entire series ♥

  1. I always found him very brave and I'm not sure if I could do the same as he did there. So selfless!

  2. That moment in the book, where Harry realises his entire life has prepared him for this moment and where he accepts that he has to make this sacrifice, is absolutely beautiful! I cried when I realised he had to go to the forest, but, in a strange way, I was so proud of him as well! Great choice :)

  3. So, so brave. The feels definitely brought on crying for me during that moment. It was very bittersweet and felt right. Great choice! Jaclyn @ JC's Book Haven.

  4. That part is very emotional, I just couldn't believe he'd sacrifice himself. i could never do such a thing, and I hated him for it. I mean did we read 7 books just to see him die? I was so mad until I found out it all resolves.. :D
    Good pick!

  6. YES! That is my favorite chapter out of the whole series! The poignancy in it guts me every time, and whenever I watch the forest scene in the movie, forget it; I can't see anything through the tears.

  7. Harry's my favourite, as well <3 This has got to be simultaneously the best and the most poignant Harry moment, for sure. And I love that you include not just the Forest, but all the meaningful events leading up to it. Just reading your summary gives me chills! *sobs* Oh, my Harry.
