Harry Potter Motw #41

Harry Potter Moment of the Week

Harry Potter Moment of the Week is a meme hosted over at Uncorked Thoughts. The idea is to share a favorite moment, magical item, character, spell, quote, object from the books, films or J.K.Rowling herself! Upcoming topics & how to join here.

  Favorite Editions/Covers for the Series

This is a tough one because I'd pretty much like to own ALL THE EDITIONS.  Really though, I think every single edition is beautiful in it's own way and they'd look so pretty all together in a HUGE library ♥  But for the purpose of this post, let's be realistic.

These are the editions I own:

Initially they were gifted to me by a friend (in paperback) back when only the first 5 books were out.  After finishing the series, I of course decided that I needed the series in hardback.  Since I was in my early 20's then, I thought the adult covers were cooler so I ended up replacing my set with these same ones in hardcover.  I still love them, despite their simplicity because every item featured on the cover is important to the story.  I think my favorite cover among these is Order of the Phoenix because of the Phoenix surrounded by fire.

These days though, if I were to treat myself some new editions, I'd probably be torn between two sets of covers:

The more years go by, the more I find myself loving these.  The illustrations really show the spirit of each book so well!  I adore how colourful they are and how the perfectly capture classic moments throughout the series.  Out of these covers, my favorites are Half-Blood Prince & Deathly Hallows with HBP probably winning out because it has Dumbledore & Harry together ♥

I was surprised how quickly these 15th anniversary ones stole my heart though! I just love the illustrations and the moments they chose to feature.  I actually have a hard time narrowing down favorites out of the bunch here though...probably Philosopher's Stone, Chamber of Secrets (♥), Prisoner of Azkaban & Half-Blood Prince.  Sooo yeah, pretty much all of them!

  1. The illustrations from the newest edition, SO GORGEOUS. I seriously want to get them and I already own two sets :')

  2. They are all so beautiful!!! I own the middle editions but I must confess, I am LOVING the newest edition's illustration SO MUCH! My favorite's from top to bottom:
    Order of the Phoenix
    Half Blood Prince
(this one's hard) The Sorcerer's Stone, Prisoner of Azkaban & Half Blood Prince lol

  3. The 15th Anniversary ones are absolutely gorgeous. I need them so badly!!! :D :D :D xxx

  4. All great picks! I have those adult ones as well, and love the last two the most, so realistic! I want those artifacts! :D
The kid ones are great as well, I have US Philosopher's cover on my Slovenian edition, and I like them a lot.
The new kid ones are great as well, with the spine art even more so! :D
    Happy reading!

  5. I WANT ALL OF THEM! I will always love my childhood ones, which were the German covers, but I turn into an absolute hoarder when it comes to Harry Potter! I do actually think I have the adult DH cover as well actually! Now all I want to do is go to my dad's house and steal my copies back from my sister's room!

  6. I haven't seen your collection up close before, but I like how they feel older. I also really like the simplicity of one main point of focus. I actually featured the last two that you did :D Jaclyn @ JC's Book Haven.

  7. Oh man, I would LOVE to own all of the editions!! Could you imagine?? That would be my all time favourite bookshelf. Anyways, for me the original Bloomsbury covers will always hold a special place in my heart because they're the ones that I grew up with even though objectively they're nothing special. I'm definitely LOVING the new editions (both US and UK) and I have always also wanted to own the special UK editions that are all white. Sigh, one day when we're rich we'll own them all!

  8. I'm loving getting to see the different HP editions this week! I never realized there were adult versions of the covers; I love how each focuses on a single element and the attention to detail, like with Slytherin's locket. The 15th anniversary covers make me drool every time I see them; they're just so beautiful!

I LOVE comments & do my best to return every one a.s.a.p. ♥
This blog is an award-free zone. I appreciate the thought but I can't invest the time needed.
