Harry Potter MotW #29

Harry Potter Moment of the Week

Harry Potter Moment of the Week is a meme hosted over at Uncorked Thoughts. The idea is to share a favorite moment, magical item, character, spell, quote, object from the books, films or J.K.Rowling herself! Upcoming topics & how to join here.

 Favorite Moment in Book 6

This is another tough one to narrow down because Half Blood Prince stands out as one of my favorites in the series.  So I'll be cheating straight up in this one and selecting a collection of moments:

The one on one training sessions between Harry & Dumbledore

I've said it many times before, Dumbledore finally taking a first-hand approach to Harry's education was something I'd been hoping for since the start of the series so to me all of those moments are golden.  As much as I've always adored and admired Harry, I knew he could benefit greatly from getting a closer loo into the workings of Dumbledore's mind.  And let's be honest, the two of them exploring Tom Riddle's past could not have been more compelling.  To get to see what made Tom Riddle grow into Lord Voldemort was incredibly fascinating, to say the least!

  1. I picked the same thing! It was good for Harry and very illuminating for the reader, too! I loved learning about Voldy's past!

  3. Ahhhh I definitely agree! This was done so brilliantly by Rowling. I was completely captivated by the history of Voldemort and how Harry was going to defeat him. One of the best moments of the series I'd say :) x

  4. JKR could not have set up Deathly Hallows more perfectly with all of the backstory we get on Voldemort in HBP. Those lessons were so vital to the rest of Harry's journey, and they turned out to be extra poignant considering the ending of HBP. Awesome pick, Micheline! :D

  5. Ooh, all of the Pensieve moments were SO fascinating!! And yeah, I had been waiting for Harry to finally get some one-on-one teaching time with Dumbledore after the debacle of Snape's Occlumency sessions from OotP. It was nice for Harry to get to spend all that time with Dumbledore right before he, you know... wasn't able to give Harry advice anymore in person *tear*
