Harry Potter MotW #22

Harry Potter Moment of the Week

Harry Potter Moment of the Week is a meme hosted over at Uncorked Thoughts. The idea is to share a favorite moment, magical item, character, spell, quote, object from the books, films or J.K.Rowling herself! Upcoming topics & how to join here.

Which of the magical schools would you attend?

I remember when Goblet of Fire came around, and we learned that there were other magical schools out there besides Hogwarts.  Like everyone I'm sure, I was thrilled and exceedingly curious to learn more about Beauxbatons and Durmstrang.  I wondered how they were different from Hogwarts and in what ways they might have been the same.  To be honest though, as curious as I was about those other schools, that's all it ever was: curiosity.  My heart will always belong to:

How could any other magical school out there compare to this one?!  We discovered all of it for the first time right along with Harry!  We were overwhelmed by it's size and scope but at the same time it felt oddly welcoming and familiar.  We spent 7 years exploring it's multiple secret rooms and hidden passages just knowing we could spend a lifetime there and still not have unraveled all of it's mysteries ♥

About Hogwarts:
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is a British wizarding boarding school teaching the magical arts, located in Scotland[1] inside Hogwarts Castle. The castle is in the mountains near a loch. The precise location of the school can never be uncovered because it has been rendered Unplottable.
Established around the 9th or 10th century, Hogwarts is considered to be one of the finest magical institutions in the wizarding world, though other notable schools include Beauxbatons Academy of Magic and the Durmstrang Institute. Children with magical abilities may be enrolled at birth, and acceptance is confirmed by owl post at age eleven.

The school's motto is Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus and is in Latin, which translates to "Never tickle a sleeping dragon".

  1. Ofc it's Hogwarts :D I think maybe a little because we are so familiar with it... If we knew more about the other schools, maybe the decision would be tougher. :)
    Great pick!

  2. Hogwarts is one of the most amazing places I've read about. Ever! Its students are SO incredibly lucky! And YES- let's get some Time-Turners so we can be eleven again and camp out waiting for our letters to arrive. :D

  3. Hogwarts is so amazingly imagined and described! Love it!

I LOVE comments & do my best to return every one a.s.a.p. ♥
This blog is an award-free zone. I appreciate the thought but I can't invest the time needed.
