Harry Potter MotW #1

Harry Potter Moment of the Week

Harry Potter Moment of the Week is a meme hosted over at Uncorked Thoughts. The idea is to share a favorite moment, magical item, character, spell, quote, object from the books, films or J.K.Rowling herself! Upcoming topics & how to join here.

Hi fellow Potter-Addicts! This is my first week participating in what is sure to become a weekly feature here at the blog - I mean how could it not?! My love for the series and the author behind it knows no bounds, and chatting with other like-minded people is sure to be a treat ♥   Coincidentally, it also just so happens to be a free week, meaning we get to choose what topic to feature. Since I've missed some great topics before I discovered this meme, I decided to do a double shot of the 'favorite book moments' I've missed so far, cause otherwise my OCD would kick in the week where we cover book 3... >.<  so here goes:

Favorite Moment from Book 1 - There are soooo many good moment to chose from our first glimpse into Harry's world: Harry finding out he's a wizard, going to Diagon Alley with Hagrid for school supplies, flying his first broom...but two specific scenes comes to mind as being absolute favorites of mine: 1. When Harry & Ron first get together on the train to Hogwarts. Ron's all fascinated about meeting 'The Boy Who Lived' and Harry being just as captivated by Ron and his story.  -♥-  2. Harry's eventually traditional end-of-the-year chat with Professor Dumbledore after having defeated Tom Riddle! Not bad for a first year...

Favorite Moment from Book 2 - A standout moment for me is when Harry sets foot in the Burrow for the first time after being saved by the younger Weasley boys.  His first glimpse at a truly magical household and way of life he never had a chance to know.  Ron's nervous because he knows his family isn't rich but Harry can see it for what it is: a happy, loving & magical place!  Aaaand considering my answer for book 1, it should come as no surprise that another favorite moment in CoS is Harry & Dumbledore's chat at the end there, where they almost discuss an important clue about a key plot element in further books...

  2. Great picks! I had a really hard time picking my favorite moments because each book has so so many. I love them all and when I think about random moment, I'm always 'oooooh' and 'aaaaah' and whatnot :D I loved end-of-the-year feasts a lot as well. It was a bittesweet affair because the school (and book) ended but it was great to read how they won the house cup, how they stuffed themselves silly and had a great time. :)

    So glad you're participating! :D

    1. haha yeah, I'm pretty much the same way. I can never ever limit myself to only one favorite moment. Aaaah the end-of-the-year feasts were always something special...and like you said: bittersweet :*)

Yay thanks Ula! Well honestly, how could I not? This is such a fun meme idea :D

  4. Hooray for joining in! :D Reading your picks brings back so many great memories- I really need to do a reread of the books straight through from beginning to end. I always loved Harry and Dumbledore's talks; like Harry, I used to wonder if Dumbledore could secretly read minds, too!

    1. Eeeeek, I'm so excited! :D I used to re-read every year but I didn't re-read them last year and I have to tell you, lately I've been itching to return to Hogwarts LOL Yeah, I think Dumbledore almost does read minds, he's good at deduction like Sherlock, he had eyes all over Hogwarts...and I'm sure he may have used at least a little Occlumency...you know, once or twice :)

    1. Isn't it just brilliant?! I've definitely been itching to do a series re-read (again!) I used to re-read them all every year but I didn't last year and I'm missing them more and more :)

  8. Welcome to the meme! I actually missed the last two weeks so I'm catching up now. I love what you chose to discuss! Ron and Harry's friendship is such a fun part of the books. I felt it too when Ron was embarrassed by his house, but that will always be Harry's favorite place to be after Hogwarts. I thought it was so great how we got to see a true magical home where all the children are greatly loved. Here is my HPMOTW. Jaclyn @ JC's Book Haven.

    1. Thanks Jaclyn! I agree, it was such a warm and welcoming household anyway. But add the free-usage of magic and I can see Harry being completely enchanted by it all and seeing past the fact that this family wasn't well off.
