Waiting on Wednesday *34*

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly 'hump-day' feature hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine where us book bloggers get together & spotlight an upcoming release we're especially looking forward to!

Here's my pick for this week (which was technically last week's pick for when I was at BEA but my scheduled posts never went up - womp womp) anyways:

Earthbound

Release Date: July 30th, 2013

Author: Aprilynne Pike

Tavia Michaels is the sole survivor of the plane crash that killed her parents. When she starts to see strange visions of a boy she’s never spoken with in real life, she begins to suspect that there’s much about her past that she isn’t being told. Tavia will soon discover that she’s an Earthbound—someone with the ability to create matter out of nothing—and that she alone holds the key to stopping the Reduciata, an evil society that manipulates global events for its own shadowy purposes. Tavia will ultimately have to make a choice: to come into her powers and save the world from the evil Reduciata or to choose free will and a love of her own.

''The ability to create matter out of nothing.''  That single sentence got my attention.  And then they threw in  'evil secret societies' and that was that - I was hooked!  Being the sole survivor in a horrific plane crash and the fact that her past is hidden to her makes me really want to tag along for the ride when the MC Tavia starts piecing everything together!  And of course, that cover is simply stunning.  Does anyone else see the resemblance between the girl pictured and the actress who played Hermione in the Harry Potter movies - Emma Watson, or is it just me?!

Are you excited about Earthbound?
Link me up so I can check our your pick this week too!

I can't wait to read this book, either. Aprilynne Pike rocks! I hope this book will be as good as the others I have read of hers. And you're right, the girl on the cover does resemble Emma a bit! Never noticed that before.

    Here's my WOW!

  7. I think I get what you mean about the resemblance.. from a fleeting look her face, especially her eyes look a bit like her. As for the novel itself.. it does sound fantastic!

  9. Oh wow, what an amazing pick! Create matter out of nothing - I don't think I've stumbled across this type of ability in a book before! I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that the 'evil secret society' plot will be equally original. And what a stunning cover! Reminds me a bit of a book called Linked by an author I don't remember (haven't read it). I'm looking forward to some reviews since it's out relatively soon :)

  10. Heh, I can see why that particular combination has got you hooked! Add in "evil secret societies" into anything and it must be a win, right? Gah, I'm SO curious about this one! Hopefully I'll get to read some early reviews for it soon. And yes, I do see Emma a bit in that girl!
