Waiting on Wednesday *30*

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly  hump-day  feature hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine where us book bloggers get together & spotlight an upcoming release we're especially looking forward to!

Here's my pick for this week:

Rush

Release Date: June 11th 2013

Author: Eve Silver

So what’s the game now? This, or the life I used to know?
When Miki Jones is pulled from her life, pulled through time and space into some kind of game—her carefully controlled life spirals into chaos. In the game, she and a team of other teens are sent on missions to eliminate the Drau, terrifying and beautiful alien creatures. There are no practice runs, no training, and no way out. Miki has only the guidance of secretive but maddeningly attractive team leader Jackson Tate, who says the game isn’t really a game, that what Miki and her new teammates do now determines their survival, and the survival of every other person on this planet. She laughs. He doesn’t. And then the game takes a deadly and terrifying turn.

I'm really hoping this cool cover will deliver the goods on the inside too!  I'm really getting into a lot of Sci-Fi lately (thank you Doctor Who) so I'm really pumped for Rush!  'The Game' aspect they refer to sounds trippy, even though it may not be a game after all...I'm also curious about those deadly & beautiful aliens!  So yeah, I'm hoping to get the 'Rush' promised here :)

What do you think of Rush?  And what was your pick this week?

  5. This is on my list too. It's so intriguing.

Random recommendation: If you like the whole game aspect of this, I recommend you watch the anime Sword Art Online (only subbed online right now as far as I know). At the launch of this new online virtual game, the creator reveals he has trapped all the players in world of the game (it's a fantasy/sci fi setting). If they die there, they die in real life. If they try to quit or someone they know turns off the system, they die. The only way to free everyone is to beat all 100 levels of the game.

Anyway, that anime is what RUSH reminds me of for whatever reason and I want to read it mainly because of that.

  11. I only just finished reading an early review for this one! From what I understand it, the aliens were very scary and creepy, but the romance is maybe too front and centre in the story. Plus, a romantic interest that is described as "maddeningly attractive"?! Barf. Otherwise it sounds good!

    1. Yeah I've been hearing somewhat mixed things too. Booo on too much romance and not enough sci-fi! I hope it manages to still be entertaining though :)

  12. I'm not a huge Sci-fi fan, but this one sounds unique. Enjoy it!

  13. I never liked the cover of RUSH, so I've never been inclined to read the blurb. But now I want it!!! Thanks for sharing it, I think I would have missed out on an awesome book just because I'm a cover-snob :p
