Stacking the Shelves *18*

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature hosted by Tynga's Reviews showcasing new books we've gotten a hold of (bought/given/gifted/trade/for review).

I hope everyone's Saturday is going great!  We are being pummeled by a Blizzard over here but it's a welcome change from all the frigid temperatures we've had lately!  Regardless, I'm safe inside in my pj's, with a cup of warm tea & the wood stove keeping me warm...and maybe a kitty or 2 on my lap...  ♥ heaven!

This week I finally made it to the bookstore and this is what I came out with:

I *just* started reading the first Charley Davidson book this week, and within a few chapters I knew I was going to love this series.  I love Charley's feisty attitude & the supernatural/grim-reaper element makes the whole thing exciting.  I'm kind of in an 'adult fantasy' kick right now so I knew I'd want book 2 in this Paranormal Romance series handy for I'm done book 1!

...And, since I've only got one book left to read in the Mistborn Trilogy, I needed to stock up on more Sanderson.  When I saw the size of The Way of Kings, I knew it would keep me busy for a while, and the premise sounds brilliant (of course)!  I'm eager to discover the goodness within :D

Eeeek - this one was on my 2013 must-read list!! It's exciting to keep checking some of those bad boys off.  I almost bought this one full price after the Holidays so imagine my delight to find that it was on sale in e-book format for one day only for like $4.50!  Needless to say I was grateful I was able to take advantage of such an awesome deal.  I've heard great things about this one & I'm dying to read it.

I'd tried to get a copy of this one on Netgalley when I first started blogging but was declined *sob*...so I was thrilled to find out  I'd managed to win a copy through a Twitter Giveaway. A HUGE thanks to Flux Books for the gorgeousness!  I've always been obsessed with ancient Egypt & I just love anything to do with Cleopatra ♥

What goodies did you get this week?

  7. Be safe during the Blizzard! We have quite a bit of snow in Switzerland too at the moment, but nothing comparable to that :/ But as long and the heating is on and you have tea and kittens, I guess the world is alright ;)
Throne of Glass is amazing, I hope you'll enjoy it too! And I really want to get into Darynda Jones' adult novels - I enjoyed Death and the Girl Next Door. But I've still not read Sanderson *hides* I hope you'll love this book as much as his Mistborn series :) Great haul, hun *hugs*

I thought you'd really loved Throne of Glass but I wasn't sure...haha >.< I haven't read Darynda's Death & the Girl Next Door but I'm glad to hear you did, I'll have to check that one out after I'm done with her Charley Davidson series!! And there's no need to hide from your lack of Sanderson (as long as you promise to check him out soon!!)...after all, I only discovered him last year :) Thanks for visiting love ♥

Throne of Glass is AWESOME. I read it in a day. It definitely earned the title of one of my favourite books :D

  18. I have "Second Grave On The Left" and "Throne of Glass" on my TBR shelf at Goodreads, but I haven't heard of the other two books before. Well, I HAVE heard the name Brandon Sanderson, though. I will definitely add these to the shelf!! Oh, and by the way, I LOVE the cover of "Cleopatra Ascending"! I recently got my hair styled just like that!

Thanks for sharing, and Happy Reading!! :)

  20. I really need to read the Darynda Jones series! Everyone seems to love them so much but I am kind of scared of them because I wasn't a fan of the one book that I read by her (Death and The Girl Next Door) but that was YA so maybe her adult books will be different. Awesome haul chickie!

    1. Oh I haven't even read Death & the Girl Next Door but for some reason I was never really attracted to that one as much as her adult series. I just finished book 1 and rated it 3.5 so not too shabby...I'm told the series improves as you go too. Sorry you didn't like your first experience with Darynda though...that kind of thing can really put you off! Thanks for stopping by hun ♥

  24. Oh awesome! I hope you love Throne of Glass - I had SO much fun with it! I'll be curious to hear about what you think of the protag, Celaena, because I know a lot of people didn't like her and thought her arrogance was a turn off. For me, I didn't really like it at first, but I was surprised at how much she grew on me and how much I came to like her! Arrogant, sure, but also loyal and friendly.

So, ever since finding out who Brandon Sanderson is from your Mistborn reviews, I've been asking around, trying to find out who else I know who has heard of him - turns out I was living under a rock or something because a lot of people I know have heard of him and are fans. My own bf, for instance, is a fan of his! haha, I had no idea. But he is most definitely on my radar now.

  25. Eeeek I'm even more excited to read it & compare notes, thanks for the insightful feedback!!

haha well that's awesome, I only found out about him last year myself but the more I read up on him the more I felt just like you said: like I was living under a rock for not knowing any of it sooner! I'm SO glad I did thought & I'm eager for you to read his books too :D
