I Solemnly Swear To...2013 Books & Bookish Resolutions

Happy 2013 Everyone!!  I hope the New Year is filled with love, hope & abundance for everyone!  I know I'm a little late with the resolutions but New Year's Day was a VERY mellow day in this house.  I spent most of it snuggled on the couch alternating between reading & watching movies with the bf while sipping tea & snuggling with the felines *sigh* it was heaven :)

Anyhow, moving on from my previous post about the best books & blogs of 2012 (click here if you haven't checked it out yet!) I wanted to spotlight the books I most wanted to read in 2012, but didn't get to...for whatever reason.  Here they are, in no particular order:

*~ Books I'm most eager to finally read in 2013 ~*

*The rest of the Mistborn Series by Brandon Sanderson.  I only discovered this series last year but I've been dying to know the rest Vin's story ever since!

Oh and while we're on the subject, I also want to read everything else by Brandon Sanderson....specifically:

Moving on to other works by other authors now... >.<

The Charley Davidson Series - I've been pining to read this one ever since I first read initial reviews on book 1...2013 will be the year I start in on this series!  I've been craving more urban fantasy lately anyways!

Ahhhh I still can't believe I don't even own a copy of this one!!!
Especially with book 2 coming out later this year...  This high fantasy book had me intrigued as soon as I first saw it.

I actually own a copy of The Red Pyramid, from way back...even before I read the Percy Jackson series!  After I finished Percy Jackson I was instantly eager to also start Riordian's Heroes of Olympus spin-off.  Hopefully 2013 will allow me to read through both :D

Grave Mercy - I own of a copy of this one but it seemed so intimidating to start at the end of 2012 -  I wanted to complete my reading challenge on Goodreads dammit!  I have a feeling I'm going to LOVE this so I'm thinking I'll be cracking this bad boy open soon enough!  Historical fiction about nun assassins seems like just the thing to change things up!

I was faced with a tough choice in 2012: Do I start with Jennifer L. Armentrout's Lux Series....or her Covenant Series? I chose latter & while I in no way regret my choice (Aiden♥), I can't wait to jump into the Lux Series as well.

Throne of Glass

I was thrilled to see so many new and quality high fantasy reads in 2012 but it certainly made it challenging to read all of the ones that caught my fancy.  Throne of Glass features a tough female protagonist kicking butt in a male dominated world - I am SO in!

Another book I can't believe I don't own/haven't read yet.  I'm pretty much adore JKR and even though I know this will be nothing like her HP books, I know I'll enjoy this because of her writing style & humanity.

A Discovery of Witches - This one has been on my 'to-read' list for so long I almost can't believe it myself.  I think it's because when it first came out I was into it....but it sort of disappeared for a bit and then had a resurgence in popularity more recently.  I mean, it's about witches so you know I need to check it out.  2013 is going to bring the precious to me, I can feel it!

This is a fairly recent discovery of mine.  I think it was around mid-2012 that I started seeing this series around and noticing all the rave reviews.  I love books about the Fey, so this seems like a series I'd enjoy.  The covers are all really attractive too ♥

Something/Everything by Maria V. Snyder
I've had  Poison Study in my reading list the longest but I also want to read her Healer & Glass series as well.  I've heard nothing but great things about Snyder from fellow bloggers so I'm dying to see what the fuss is about :)

Iced -  this is another example of a book I couldn't believe I didn't pick up right away in 2012 - I was on of my top anticipated releases of the year too.  I read the entire Fever Series last year & I've been pining to return to the Fever world ever since!

Just reading the synopsis of book 1 was enough to have me hooked.  This seems filled to the brim with magic, destiny & all-around epicness.  This could be a big one for me...I can feel it!
The Eon Series - Another long overdue read for me.  This one I actually own so I honestly have no excuse.  A girl posing as a boy so she can train to be an apprentice to one of the 12 energy dragons!?  I almost can't contain myself just thinking about it >.<

I could definitely add to this list some more, but these are the top books
I'm Resolving to read asap in 2013*whew* I've got my work cut out for me...

As far as bookish resolutions go, I solemnly swear to get my unread books on my booshelf read.  Same goes for my e-books & galleys.  That might mean I skip a Stacking the Shelves Feature on occasion.  I hope to be able to control my book buying urges (somewhat) and make due with my already ample collection...sometimes. *snicker*

All the best to all my followers & fellow bloggers in 2013 ♥

  1. Those are some great reading choices for 2013! I have to read several of them, too: Grave Mercy, Obsidian, Shadow and Bone, and The Demon King. I loved A Discovery of Witches, though it was the type of book that grew on me the more I read it; I found the beginning a bit slow. And I can't praise Maria V. Snyder's books enough, especially the Study series! Happy reading in 2013, Micheline! :)

  3. I have a lot of these books on my radar for 2013 too! I can definitely recommend The Iron Fey series, I've only read the first two books, but they are amazing! A Discovery of Witches is one I'm determined to read this year, but I'm intimidated by it...it's so huge! Good luck with these resolutions, I'm sure you'll meet them all! :)

  8. So, the Iron Fey series is AWESOME! I still need to read Shadow and Bone too, and Throne of Glass. I want to read the new JK Rowling novel also.

Its funny that you had to choose between the Lux novels or the Covenant series by Jennifer L Armentrout. I faced the same dilemma and read the Lux Novels. Haha. I can honestly tell you, they are AMAZING!!!! You should read them ASAP! and I plan on reading the Covenant series this year!
