Divergent Movie has a Director...& gets closer to casting Tris

Veronica Roth, author of the amazing dystopian  Divergent Series, has made an official announcement via her blog: the book-to-film adaptation of the first book Divergent has a director!  It's Neil Burger, writer & director of one of my favorite movies of all time: The Illusionist
which stars Edward Norton, Jessica Biel and Paul Giamatti.  Seriously if you haven't seen this movie, go out and rent it RIGHT NOW!  Neil Burger also directed Limitless staring Bradley Cooper.  Veronica Roth herself is thrilled about the choice and also a huge fan of Neil's previous works.

Though the casting for the main protagonist in Divergent  has not yet been finalized Shailene Woodley is in final negotiations to bring 'Tris' to the big screen.  You may have seen her in The Descendants or the t.v. series The Secret Life of the American Teenager.  According to Veronica, Shailene has proven her acting skills and more importantly looks the part of Tris.

So what do you guys think?  Are you satisfied with these choices?  Are you excited for the Divergent movie?  Let me know in your comments below.

  1. I love the Illusionist! Such clever filming and twists, hopefully Divergent is just as awesome ;-)

    1. Yay another Illusionist fan :D Isn't it just one of the best movies!? I'm even more excited for Divergent now!

  2. I have yet to read Divergent (I know epic fail right?) but I LOVED the Illusionist. It was such a beautiful movie so I would see the movie for the director alone. Thanks for sharing, Micheline!

    1. It's a good thing the movie's coming up, you'll just HAVE to read the book beforehand regardless ;) As for The Illusionist, yes: you said it perfectly ♥ Thanks for visiting Jenni!

I LOVE comments & do my best to return every one a.s.a.p. ♥
This blog is an award-free zone. I appreciate the thought but I can't invest the time needed.
